NPM is the bomb
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. It just works out of the box. Of course you can customize it as needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Makes it too easy. But like I stated it, there are many customization options such as creating SQL reports or even using solarwinds own SWQL language.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Compliance is a big thing along with making sure everything is right in the world.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very easy to use. Needs minimal maintenance. However, I would recommend you start will all green. Make sure that everything is working and use that as a baseline.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that solarwinds and the community create some plugins to help us. There's a huge selection of plugins that you can choose to monitor whatever you want
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing so far, it can do whatever i want to
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Check whats going on with my AD users, exchange users.... i can see if an application is down on my web servers ...

Check out what the community create, there's a huge selection of plugins from them, and you can always ask in the forum if someone has created something that you might be looking for.
Highly Customizable Tool for monitoring Server and Application.
What do you like best about the product?
Data presentation and mapping of Application Objects with their nodes makes life easy along with CPU and Memory.
What do you dislike about the product?
When it comes to distributed architecture then SAM becomes unstable.

Business Applications Daily issues and Problems can be solved if you place the right monitoring.
Solarwinds SAM, a powerful tool which quickly becomes a necessity for your business.
What do you like best about the product?
Log into the web console for access to a wealth of information that is available to you on your servers and the applications that run on them. There is a whole bunch of templates and alerts already available to you for both physical and virtual servers.
A multitude of information can become available from the web app by selecting from a series of tabs and dropdown menus, ideal for troubleshooting and getting to root cause of problems. You can drill down into servers to be presented with metrics dashboards which are all customisable. SAM is a complex tool that is usable with minimal training. But the more you use and learn, the more powerful SAM becomes.

Useful tool for sql servers
What do you like best about the product?
I use this to monitor db health on several sql servers and it's been invaluable, highlighting several *interesting* things we had no visibility of before.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tuning has been a test, but that's mostly down to the individual characteristics of our platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Finding reasons for slowdowns, troubleshooting and tuning performance of the DBs
SolarWinds Orion Netflow Traffic Analyzer is a must have tool.
What do you like best about the product?
What I love about NTA is that I was able to implement it quickly. It was easy to let novices or other technical personnel use the tool to get valuable information with out have to give them a lot of training, This tool is easy to learn how to use via it's intuitive user interface. It gives the ability to see what and how your network is being used.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have any major dislikes. I have been using NTA for over 10 years, I have been able to work with this tool as it has evolved and improved over that time. It is an integrated part of our network management strategy. I can't imagine not having access to this tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are continually using this tool to measure how the network is being used, I have created a number of reports that show utilization of applications and conversations, that used to track the overall use of the network and is reported monthly to upper management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try the evaluation, In one month you you see the benefits of this tool. I know there are other tools being offered from other vendors. I have looked at them, Nothing I have found can compare to NTA.
Solarwinds SAM saved us hundreds of thousands!
What do you like best about the product?
ease of use and the flexibility to get most anything accomplished. There are few barriers from the software.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Linux and AIX monitoring is a bit harder if you are not familiar with the OS, although the new agents make this somewhat better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We started monitoring our critical applications, services and processes, but over time we started monitoring items that with the old system we couldnt afford to monitor. Today we monitor over 9000 applications compared to 250 with our old solution.

download and play with it, youll find its very easy

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the Real-Time Event Log Viewer, Service Control Manager, Real-Time Processor Explorer, Exchange module, Active Directory module and all the AppInsight modules.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like the ability to change gauges and remove columns and go to a blank canvas
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring services, directories, SQL, IIS and events. We are able to identify problems proactively before an application has problems or goes down. Our downtime for applications have gone down and uptime has gone up since we've starting monitoring these elements.

It's simple, you need an IP address and credentials to authenticate with then the rest is easy

What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility it gives you to monitor different aspects of your environment such as websites, certificates, Exchange and many others.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the application templates can use better instructions on how to implement them, or possibility give some examples as to how they can be implemented.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use this product to monitor services on various application, we have eliminated the issue of SSL certs expiring on our websites when we setup SSL monitors in SAM.

Document the app templates better and provide step by step configurations to help people use them.
SAM - A must have for IT pro's
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the application health overview on the main SAM page, the APP Stack is a wonderful addition. The App insight for SQL and IIS is a game changer as well and we utilize it daily.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike. I wish I could afford a larger license to be able to monitor every application with SAM
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring SAP applications was a huge issue for us, we were able to use SAM to give us all the information we need.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a mandatory product. I would recommend all companies to utilize SAM for internal use.
