Decent tracker for site monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to setup alerts in an escalation matrix to track site downtime - saves the sudden panic calls when senior management finds errors and you look unprepared.
The mobile app is a good touch - elevates it from beyond a background service to an always-on, always-aware assist.
The mobile app is a good touch - elevates it from beyond a background service to an always-on, always-aware assist.
What do you dislike about the product?
The analytics for site performance tend to be proprietary - we normally use Google Analytics or GTmetrix, and somehow Pingdom's performance monitor never seems to agree with the results observed in these.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
2 standard problems -
1 - tracking uptime and triggering alerts to concerned teams in case of a downtime. Knowing that there is an automatic escalation on it's way helps streamline and prioritize responses as per SLA, and allows responding developers to achieve SLA requirements more easily. Reports are also a standard inclusion in regular website health tracking and early-warning indicator of issues.
2 - Site performance stats - a standard tracking of load times with historical data is similarly a good indicator and helpful in tracing when / where issues occurred.

Powerful monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
A very powerful monitoring tool with multiple modules. Most everything we want to keep an eye on is in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can get complex and confusing to set up what we needed. Once set up on decently powered hardware, it has worked well
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alerting to network and application issues often before our users know so we can address them quickly
SolarWinds is Overly Complicated with bad UI
What do you like best about the product?
Network Performance Monitor does give us lots of graphs about what is going on in the network. The graphs produced can aid in troubleshooting.
What do you dislike about the product?
SolarWinds tends to be slow and unwieldy. Maintaining nodes to make sure that everything is monitored tends to be labor intensive. The UI needs a major overhaul.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use NPM to manage our interface statistics which it does do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are other products on the market that can do things as well or better and that have better UI. Definitely look around if you have the choice.
Great, but others can do more
What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoyed using Pingdom, but our needs grew- and we've now made efforts to implement other tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've done some digging, and we've found that we can merge about 3 tools into one- and reduce our monthly spend by quite a bit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've found it to be an amazing tool to encourage our customers to utilize more products and solutions within our own offering.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We've come to realize that Ppingdom is a great tool to start with, accelerating growth pushes us to gain more data/security/monitoring across our stacks- so a migration to another tool will soon ensue.
Solarwinds SAM - for monitoring applications and servers
What do you like best about the product?
Solarwinds SAM allows you to monitor servers or specific interface on a server (HDD, RAM, CPU Utilization), and applications. Custom templates are available within the application and more can be downloaded from the Solarwinds Community, and yet user can create their own templates. Monitoring is pretty comprehensive and accurate. User can setup dashboards on what they would prefer to monitor.
What do you dislike about the product?
Solarwinds SAM has a learning curve, which probably all such tools have. In addition, we ran into several problems, such as slow response time, interface not responding, events emails not getting triggered. Another thing to dislike is how hard it is to give correct and restricted to other users (not admins). It would be helpful if there were some template dashboards readily available in SAM.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solarwinds SAM is primarily used in our company for immediate notification of any issues with Servers or the applications running on those servers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
SolarWinds SAM has a learning curve, but once you get over it, it is awesome. The SolarWinds Community support is great as well.

Slick.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the built in integrations to send information both directions, allowing end users to get all the information they need in 1 spot.
What do you dislike about the product?
Each alert needed to be set up individually, it would be great if there was a machine learning option.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visualization and quick resolution to outages, in some cases before they are even noticed by the end users.
Global Monitor Connector

Ability to capture information and have a single pane of glass view along with other devices
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing at this point has been uncovered to not like
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Number of devices used globally needed to have monitoring on performance
Easy to maintain
What do you like best about the product?
No many upgrades to the application were required
What do you dislike about the product?
We depended on another team to complete testing, I would like to see backed validation
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alerts and monitoring, that trigger ticket creation
Streamline Network Performance to your instance
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to monitor all connected systems is a major win for our company. That's what this app does best.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a big of a learning curve to using this application. They could make it more user friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to quickly get information about a system that is down. This app does deliver that after some configuration.
