Improved email security has reduced spam, simplified encrypted mail, and strengthened user trust

What is our primary use case?

Barracuda Email Protection is an essential addition to our email security suite, and we use it ourselves and for other clients at present. It is simply the best anti-spam gateway I have used, better than Trend and Mimecast and other products I used in the distant past. As a front-end gateway with a well-thought-out user interface, it is easy to see messages from external clients that were either caught up in anti-spam or antivirus queues and explain to end-users what happened to their email.

I use Barracuda Email Protection with our clients as an excellent anti-spam gateway with the best logging display of messages I have seen. It is so easy to identify what happened to messages, which is so important when I am the person they call when things go wrong and messages are not received. It takes seconds to set up and minutes to configure. It is very easy to use for both my clients and myself.

The email spam filtering is very great, email encryption, and email archiving are all features that we support for our clients as part of our network security services packages.

How has it helped my organization?

Barracuda Email Protection has positively impacted my organization by increasing our email protection and security significantly. Our security has increased from forty percent to sixty-five percent, especially when dealing with all the threats that come through emails. It has been a great tool because we can handle email delays and delays on file scanning. It has helped us have less time chasing bad emails. The fast implementation of encrypted mail keeps employees working with less interruption since they are happy, satisfied, and secure. When our partners are happy, we are very happy.

What is most valuable?

The best features Barracuda Email Protection offers include good spam filtering and very good sandboxing of all links, as well as good encryption. It also has integrated logging for user management of their own spam. It has better filtering technology, so few are false positives as well, with excellent anti-spam engines and logging. It is extremely easy to install, configure, and set up, and there is excellent message tracking for folks that say they have not received an email they were expecting.

Integrated logging and user management make my daily work easier because it is very easy to log in and to manage this tool, hence making it a very good tool for email protection. It also has excellent, easy-to-add designated users as site administrators, and it is competitively priced.

It has a user-friendly portal, strong cloud-based features, and no additional maintenance cost, along with responsive support. Barracuda Email Protection has positively impacted my organization by handling encryption better than any other tool I have used before, which has increased our email protection significantly. What needs improvement?

Barracuda Email Protection can be improved by enhancing the reporting feature.

The speed of the portal is quite slow, and the quarantine reports are scheduled-based and not on the spot itself.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Barracuda Email Protection is very stable, as I have not experienced any lagging or downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Barracuda Email Protection's scalability is very good because it handles all my clients' emails and all my organization emails. It can be used by any size of organization, hence being more scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support is very good, and the times that I have reached out to the support team, I noticed they are very responsive. They are quick to find a solution, and they are available twenty-four seven, so overall, it is a great customer support team.

What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment because I have saved the end-user heartache, especially since they are very secure and have peace of mind. The IT department has saved time and cost, as they do not have to run up and down fighting with malicious spam or malicious attacks. They are at peace.

In my experience, the pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Barracuda Email Protection are competitively priced, making it very affordable for any size of organization, so it is a very cost-effective tool.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Barracuda Email Protection, I evaluated other options, including Bitwarden.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others looking into using Barracuda Email Protection is that we are using Barracuda Essentials across the organization to protect users from malicious email attacks and to secure data in the cloud backups. It solves issues in one solution: backup, protection, and reporting. All data is backed up to the cloud, including Office 365, SharePoint, and OneDrive for all users. It protects the user inbox with a myriad of content filtering and black and whitelisting. It is simple for the IT department and other departments to find quarantined emails and release them. It has increased my organization's security posture, especially when dealing with threats from emails, making it a very recommendable tool that is cost-effective and easy to use.

Our users feel more comfortable since they receive a lot less spam and phishing emails, and they love how easy it is to send encrypted emails. Barracuda Email Protection is very easy to use since it really does not take any effort from the user other than clicking one button to send outgoing encrypted emails when needed. Management is also very easy, and there is not much to do other than add or remove email addresses and add or remove domains from the spam filtering list. Overall, it is a great tool. I would rate this review an eight.

I wish there was a Fedramp Moderate/Equivalent variant of this product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Email spam volumes aren't getting any smaller, so having something like this is essential.

What do you like best about the product?

Can at times be slow to filter large amounts of messages and will not detect social engineering attacks as efficiently as our endpoint protection.

Great 365 Integration with Strong Phishing and Impersonation Protection

What do you like best about the product?
Barracuda with 365 integration has been great for us. It does a pretty good job of catching phishing attempts and provides solid impersonation protection. We also really like the spooling feature in case 365 happens to go down.

I don't like the new UI. other than that things are fine

What do you like best about the product?
Barracuda Email Protection keeps our emails secure from any cyber attacks on emails and prevent data loss. Supports to detect and eliminate threats such as malware, spyware and blocks spam messages. Helps to prevent phishing and fraud by detecting and blocking phishing business email compromise. Offers the best solution for anti-spamming.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only challenge is false negative particularly on anti spam.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use the tool to secure our data by preventing attacks through the business email compromise. Since the deployment of the tool we rest assured that we can not expect any attack. The tool is able to detect and eliminate threat before penetration.

What do you like best about the product?
Barracuda Email Protection is a great product due to the ease of use for our Administrators and also our end users. The daily emails are very beneficial to keep possible spam out of the inbox. There is an easy way to contact support if assistance is needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times, the filter can be a bit too aggressive and ends up flagging emails that aren't actually malicious. While it's generally safer to err on the side of caution, it can be frustrating for our users when legitimate emails are mistakenly placed in quarantine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Barracuda Email Protection has been instrumental in preventing users from clicking on malicious emails, as well as stopping these harmful messages from reaching their inboxes in the first place. Our goal is to maintain a robust security posture, and this solution supports us in achieving that.

What do you like best about the product?
I find Barracuda Email Protection extremely valuable for its Outlook reporting feature, which integrates seamlessly and enhances our ability to handle suspicious emails. This feature particularly stands out because it saves significant time for support admins by automating the process of entering reported suspicious emails into the system, thereby effectively blocking them without manual intervention. This automation capability is a real time-saver as it alleviates the tedious task of manually inputting information into the Barracuda system, allowing us to focus more on critical tasks. Additionally, using Barracuda for Domain Fraud Protection has been a positive experience, and the software seems adept in providing robust protections which made us confident in switching from our previous service, KnowBe4.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it limiting that when creating an incident on a reported email, there's only one option to email the user(s), and it would be beneficial to have several email options for different scenarios. Additionally, the initial setup requires a lot of steps and dependency on support to configure it correctly, which could be streamlined for ease of use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Barracuda Email Protection to help employees report suspicious emails instead of clicking on links, saving me time from manually entering these into the system and automating the blocking process.
