What do you like best about the product?
The security and available resources for support are unmatched. Due to the kind of expertise it needs to use, it is rarely prone to virus attacks. In my field of work, command-line usage is essential, and Ubuntu is the only Linux system I have used. There is, most often than not, the solution to errors one faces utilizing this platform. The crown it up, It is free.
What do you dislike about the product?
It requires a higher level of expertise to use. It is not easy for a novice to get used to it. It has come a long way; however, adding more Functionalities in the GUI would help the ordinary user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu desktop on my Windows PC to enable me to run software that is exclusive to the Linux system. I thus, do not need to have two separate computers. It has dramatically improved my efficiency.

The easy interface and the intuitive terminal (bash) helps a lot in the whole development lifecycle and that's something I like the best about Ubuntu or Linux OS
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the fact that you have to manually update the tools using apt-get update and only a few of the tools are available for installation for Ubuntu, eg. some games, apps, etc.

I mostly use Ubuntu for development purposes, using AWS cli and various command line tools also for testing my develpoed apps in Python and Java.

The best start into the Linux OS

  • February 07, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best OS for beginners when it comes to Linux. They have a great community and a lot of support in general. It provides all the bells and whistles you will need if you are starting out.
What do you dislike about the product?
It comes with a lot of bloatware that in the end, it's not that necessary if you are starting out in the Linux ecosystem which can lead to unnecessary use of space on the hard drive/SSD.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Is one of the best OS if you want an alternative from Windows or Mac OS and you don't have much experience in Linux. Is relatively lightweight compared to Windows or Mac but not among other Linux OS counterparts.
