Easy to manage infrastructure and on/off-boarding!
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use setting up new infrastructure with our existing JumpCloud user and group is fantastic and turns a long setup to minutes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd love to see a new user on-boarding flow / wizard to help users hit the ground running. (Users forgetting to add SSH keys is our biggest trip up)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Setting up LDAP for authentication to our servers and virtualization management software hasn't been easier. We've been able to set up specific access for our sysadmins and engineers without having to individually manage each server.
Great replacement for onprem AD
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it's very easy to setup and is much easier to administer than Active Directory is. In addition, it is easy to scale the solution for small teams as well as larger teams. The support team at JumpCloud has also been phenonemal.
What do you dislike about the product?
No real downsides that I have encountered thus far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were trying to get away from AD and still deploy policies to company computers and also be able to centrally manage them in one location.
A Robust Cloud Management Tool
What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud has an Intuitive UI which makes navigation very easy for a Cloud admin.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't been able to spot a thing I don't like about Jumpcloud for now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I haven't deployed it to a real-life scenario, but as a lad testing environment, and so far, it has been great.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'll definitely recommend JumpCloud to Network Admins to get their hands on it and eventually migrate their organization to it.
Continuously updated product that generates added value
What do you like best about the product?
Cloud-based LDAP and RADIUS opened up the ability to implement new functionality that was outside of the origional scope of the directory migration to JumpCloud. This added value meant I didn't have to search for another product or spin up another server.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of nested groups will force a reorganization of your OUs, so be sure to give the trial a go and read through the knowledgebase articles. It's not difficult to understand. However, larger organizations may have a significant task on hand to keep things tidy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud allowed me to go completely serverless. Businesses need a solution like JC to move away from a traditional server stack. Unlike conventional cloud directories from competitors, JC is designed from the bottom-up as a turnkey cloud-based directory, not an afterthought add-on to AD.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Roadmap your migratition. Learn some PowerShell. Ask your rep for an invite to the Slack lounge and read up on real customers' experiences, troubles, and successes while considering how they may relate to your environment.
So far our experience with Jumpcloud has been great.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the zero-touch deployment. We can now deliver the new laptops directly to our new employees home (since we work from home) and everything will be configured on the first login. We love the MDM so far even though we haven't yet fully released it yet in our company.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is not necessarily the thing I dislike but you could have also some mobile app that could push MFA login. That would be awesome!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a huge issue with user access management. It wasn't centralised much so we had a lot of systems where we didn't remove users who have left the company. Now with SSO/SAML/LDAP we really don't need to worry about it because all the important services are working via SSO.
Also the sysadmin is very happy that he doesn't need to prepare the laptops manually.

Very useful tool for startups
What do you like best about the product?
We were looking for an identity platform with an acceptable cost as we are a small company. We were looking mainly for centralized device management with the possibility to sync with Google Workspace that we already use to manage all users. We appreciated the possibility to manage devices, users and groups in a very simple way. What is very appealing is the pricing. It is free for the first 10 users, this is quite a common case for startups or little companies. It gives you the complete freedom to try the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing relevant or particular for the moment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our main need was to manage devices centrally: allow and remove access to servers in a secure way
Simply the most easiest and productive cloud directory service ever!
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of setup. Jumpcloud makes it easier for first time users especially those new to the cloud an excellent experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
None so far.it's been over a year and I'm still yet to find anything I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of use and overall user provisioning and device administration made easier.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely give it a try.
Fantastic platform for SMEs that want to build a robust platform!
What do you like best about the product?
It is pre-built. Adding integrations are sometimes complex, but that complexity would exist with any directory. The guides are comprehensive too; sometimes they can be hard to follow, but these are highly complex topics, so it is inevitable..
What do you dislike about the product?
Support is decent, but sometimes I have needed to supply the same information more than once and I've needed to repeat diagnostic steps on the instructions of the support team.. Again, this is not unique to JumpCloud, but ideally it would be great if support could review cases thoroughly..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a JumpCloud partner, so my review is focused on the benefits to other MSPs; however many of those benefits will apply to end customers too.
The key problem it solves for our customers is being able to address lots of different requirement in one platform. The core cloud directory is useful for all, but if down the line you add a NAS to the business, Cloud LDAP extends JumpCloud there. Similarly, if you deploy a VPN or enterprise Wi-Fi solution, again Cloud RADIUS extends the power of JumpCloud again!

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Some of the integration steps are complex, so if you struggle, look for a partner that can help!
JumpCloud is a powerful, convenient way to manage IT
What do you like best about the product?
SSO, device management, policies, BitLocker/FileVault key storage
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be confusing for new users who aren't accustomed to cloud based management
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Device management, user management, SSO, software deployment
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider trying it. It's free to use for organizations under 10 users, so there's no risk to trying it.
The first and most crucial step on my ZeroTrust Networking and various compliance initiatives.
What do you like best about the product?
I love the single source of truth in a cloud-native platform. For me, this feels a little like Git for Users/Devices in that I trust that this is where my users/devices live, not spread out across dozens of disparate systems. Also... dead simple ssh with mfa on Linux... MIND BLOWN!
What do you dislike about the product?
Currently, there is no support for device management on Chromebooks or Android.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been spinning my wheels in implementing ZeroTrust principles in my network, trying to set up the myriad of tools to extend an on-prem directory. I realize I was stuck in 2010, resulting in an unhealthy relationship with Microsoft Active Directory. Now I can tie in all the different services on the cloud to a directory that doesn't so much care about the underlying infrastructure, I can focus on the users and devices and let JumpCloud keep the lights on for me.
Also, I recently had a few gaps in my HIPAA security audit, and I was able to address them very simply with JumpCloud. This turned a fairly lengthy process of configuration management for predominantly mobile devices into a very simple and well-documented solution. The result is I passed my HIPAA verification.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look long and hard before you dig into AzureAD or extend an on-prem directory. Kick the tires with the JumpCloud free tier. You will probably find everything you need without perpetuating a headache with ActiveDirectory, you might need a little more peace of mind and reduced stress without AD replicas to keep track of. Read the Ebook "Breaking Up With Active Directory", it's funny but so true!
