What do you dislike about the product?
JumpCloud could benefit from tighter integration with other cloud providers.

Customers that are looking to move to a completely cloud based IT environment benefit from implementing JumpCloud thus eliminating the need for a on-site server.

JumpCloud is THE Solution to Get Away from Active Directory

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to implement and very scalable, with lots of features for integrating SSO (Single Sign-On) and the like. Has a strong back-end management platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing can add up quickly, you should carefully plan out your implementation strategy so that you can look at different pricing scenarios and not overbuy. We are also working through strategies for security revolving around password resets and lost/stolen mobile devices.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With the move to the Cloud for so many applications and the move to the home for so many workers, Active Directory doesn't make sense for the typical organization. Based on trust of devices and better suited for office-centric installations, the "Zero Trust" aspect of JumpCloud allows you to free the users from the office network and safely access corporate data from anywhere with a high degree of security and control.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Plan your implementation, both current and expected future needs. Don't be afraid to ask the JumpCloud community for assistance in integrating applications or services.

Jumpcloud - a new paradigm for IT

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jumpcloud allows us to Identity and administer computers from anywhere.
For us, the Linux and Mac support was what sold us. Active Directory SUCKS when it comes to these machines. We much prefer the experience of control, without the pain of AD.

Jumpcloud uses an agent system which controls accounts and access on the said computer. It allows you to push configuration and policy across each type of machine and really hones into the relative strengths of each platform.

On the web side, Jumpcloud has an arsenal of SAML applications (including a generic one, just in case). Additionally, there is Secure LDAP (with Samba Support) and Radius. We have tied most of our Samba, VPN's, Wifi to Identity eliminating those pesky shared passwords. The other great thing is that users can go from site to site in the division and just automatically connect.

I love that they are continuing to push for a better and better product. They are an exciting startup turned mature company. They listen to their customers and you can see the product getting better and better.

For example, Already they have and are developing SCIM support with their SAML connectors. This has made onboarding easier and easier. When I make an account, it pre-propogates those accounts to services using SCIM/API without having to go to those services to make an account.

Their support is responsive and their higher tier support is top notch.

The Slack community is helpful for interacting with the company as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
No Single Logout option. This bothers me for Shared computer instances. However, it's become less of an issue with the dawn of Covid.

From time to time, computers will generate a new entry instead of attaching to the old entry. This essentially bypasses all the configuration and locks the user out of the computer. Currently an open ticket about this.

They are slightly behind the market when it comes to SAML connectors (compared to say one login or Okta), however, the computer support is far superior to those companies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to onboard employees and control computers anywhere in the world. We can instantly disable accounts and lock down our central resources without having to worry about data leaks. It's a fantastic security tool!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking to get off AD and you have to check out Jumpcloud. It's a solid solution that will modernize your IT infrastructure.

Great for a Home Office environment

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease to deploy policies out of an office environment and also avoid the need to have an in house infrastructure to maintain.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to have more options in creating admin roles, as the current set up is limited to predefined roles.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When we were deployed home due to COVID, it helped us to deploy policiees to remote devices without the need for individuals to connect to a VPN, as well we do not have to worry to maintain an in office infrastructure. As well for us to control user access.

JumpCloud DaaS/ MDM/ account management/ Device Management

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud has come a long way since their inception. JumpCloud has given us another platform to go above and beyond just user's passwords and usernames.

JumpCloud has many functions and features that they are continuously update and expand. Security, always being at the forefront of their services.

JumpCloud is broken down into two sections, Users and Devices.

Users - You can set password requirements, control lockouts, logins, see user's activities, manage users through groups, set policies by groups, set security standards such as MFA.

Devices - You are able to gain insight into Device Management through Device insights. We can see success and failed attempts to log into the users devices or any feature you are using such as RADIUS. You can manage devices individually or as a group. You can push commands and policies to Devices. Security is heightened when password reset must occur, as password resets are recommended to be changed on the agent rather than the portal. This eliminates phishing and hackers from changing passwords through the portal. You can manage network access for each device. Again, security being the focal point of JumpCloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, the agent on the device stops communicating randomly with JumpCloud Cloud Services and this comes into play when offboarding a user and you can't get into the device, the device does not allow you to add a new user to get into the device. This is not a major problem as if you have FileVault enabled you can get around it. But it does take time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud allows you to manage Devices, Users, Network access, visibility, managing LDAP, again we found that JumpCloud has focused on Security.

I have also enjoyed going through JumpCloud University. I have learned a lot and able to apply what I learned.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want a product that is scalable and able to protect your devices and companies information, JumpCloud is a great tool to use. From onboarding, to managing and insights, to offboarding users, JumpCloud continues to meet our expectations.

Directory Service of the modern age

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jumpcloud is a great way to manage users and devices regardless of where they are located. Cross service platform for Windows and Mac made simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the Jumpcloud icon does not appear in the menu bar on Macs. Although users can still access the user portal through a link.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integration with Google Workspace, creating groups for access.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

An active directory for the future

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's literally a one-stop shop for all IT needs. It's missing nothing.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Windows Hello still worked with the device MFA enabled. Users must still type in their password on the lock screen even after MFA authentication. Touch ID still functions on MacBooks, so I am unsure why this is the case with Windows Hello.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have always depended on on-prem solutions using active directory.

After the pandemic forced all staff to work from home, this became impossible to manage as our hardware could not handle all our employees tunneling into our firewall. Further headaches would arise when they were locked out of their machines at home or forgot their passwords. Using jumpcloud, this has made life so much easier to administer all my users remotely.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Always contact support. They can answer ANY question you have and they also have incredible community support thru slack.

Finally able to retire Active Directory!

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Active Directory was the last on-premise software I had. I've been able to move *everything* else to cloud platforms. Very happy with Jumpcloud's cross-platform agent that allowed me to decommission Active Directory and have even better control over my endpoint identity - especially with remote workers.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that is extremely minor: The login screen animation on macOS is a little jittery. You can tell it isn't native. Definitely not a dealbreaker hah!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Two objectives: 1) Decommission Active Directory; 2) Better control over identity for remote workers.
