Even as a work in progress, they're head and shoulders above of the competition

  • November 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud provides a suite of tools and directory services to provide great remote support to our endpoints of every OS in our infrastructure from one pane of glass. Device and user policy management works well and although there is still a lot of room to improve, the core suite of tools is head and shoulders above the competition while still being competitively priced.

They have basic offerings to span most of what I need to manage Mac, Windows, and Linux endpoints. MDM works great on Mac. Running commands remotely on endpoints is a little clunky but it works pretty well. Policy management works great. And they have other tools like an SSO portal for my end-users that generally works really well (although their documentation for configuring individual integrations needs a little TLC).

Lastly, premium support is a game changer. Because JumpCloud can be rather nuanced for some use-cases, you'll want to leverage their premium support. It's worth every penny though. The team is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't queue commands I push remotely to machines. If the machine isn't connected to the console at the time of the command, it won't receive the command...period. So I have to, as an admin, chase down machines that weren't on at the time I pushed an update or ran a command.

And if I want to be able to easily tell who got the update and who didn't, or ask other simple questions, JumpCloud lacks basic reporting functionality from any kind of GUI (they have a "dashboard" with a few canned pieces of info but it's not really helpful). If you like powershell, you'll get by, but if you prefer bash... prepare to learn powershell if you want to answer simple questions like "which machines have this software running on them?" or "what are all my machine hostnames and serials in alphabetical order?"

Mac MDM doesn't provide full Zero Touch DEP yet, although they do have a basic DEP program with Apple. JumpCloud doesn't have MDM capabilities for Windows yet.

Their Linux support exists but is highly nuanced (but its Linux so that's to be expected a little bit). Hard drive encryption, for example, which is managed for Windows and Mac, presents particular challenges on Linux, because as JumpCloud manages the password to access the endpoint but can't communicate the password change to the Linux hard drive encryption, the machine user has to change the password locally first prior to changing the associated JumpCloud password so the encryption "get's the memo" prior to the change.

There are many nuances like that throughout JumpCloud but all in all, they're putting money and resources into developing their feature-set based on customer feedback so I'm confident that many of these issues or features that are lacking will be addressed. It'll just be a matter of time for many of them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to solve three main problems:
1 - Remove local admin rights while still having the ability to manage the machines
2 - Set password policy (expiration, complexity, length)
3 - Manage hard drive encryption from a central location for Mac and Windows

We've found JumpCloud has a rich suite of tools that we've been able to use to address lots of other issues as well like remotely installing software, remote locking/wiping machines (MDM), remote password resets (when users forget their passwords or lock themselves out of their account).

The biggest thing was that JumpCloud gave us the ability to remotely see and manage our endpoints and the users logging onto them. And all done from the cloud so I don't have to worry about hardware.

Modern AD for Modern Infrastructure

  • November 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use, AD Migration toolkit, and support are bar none. It's easy to use, just works, and provides functionality beyond AD that is perfect for the modern remote work environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only dislike is the lack of features. Adding in tools for remoting into your devices and more GPO type features would be great. I'm sure all of these "dislikes" are future features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to push software, policy, and provide businesses AD and password security whether they're on or off the companies internal network.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a worthy replacement of traditional AD and movement to the modern workforce, this is for you. You will love it.

JumpCloud is the best cloud directory platform

  • November 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to manage passwords to other SaaS apps and directory integrations from one place in the cloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
Directory insights or any logging feature is not available which should be an embedded feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Constant account lockouts which impacts VPN access from Active Directory. With JumpCloud the user is self served in resetting their own passwords and therefore reduces their contact with our help desk.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider how easy it is to configure and other tools such as MDM, Software Management and Commands [ability to run commands directly on the device]
Review the policies as there are quite a few that helps with the management and integrations

  • November 19, 2020

JumpCloud is very helpful application for workspaces that require multiple programs.

  • November 08, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud has an advanced implementation for different analytics because their advances capabilities are great and they integrate very well with this tool. JumpCloud has easy to integrate with other multiple products so it does an excellent job of giving orientation to easy methods to use for the collection and analysis of data. It has frequent updates to solve our business problems because its security administration is feasible and it is really easy to configure. JumpCloud is a really helpful solution for our organization because it provides secure password to manage our variety of different applications and environments. We use a lot of these logins for testing and demonstration because our leadership team adds new implements services to our organization. On the other hand, it allows us to create the customize modules for our employees and it give access to certain functions to eliminate their access without having to introduce a different user and it has been great implement because it saves us a lot of time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes we face many serious problem through this implement because the volume of functions can be negative impact for beginners because its design could be more intuitive and better practicality but there are a lot of problems to support documents and its design a little better to help us to get complete our work that we have to need in this implement. One downside around this implement is that Sometimes if we are running late but it can be a little flustering having to login multiple times a day so we have to face serious problems through this implement. JumpCloud implement can be glitch at times because when the users signing out account but sometime all of their accounts cannot working properly and then we can leave this sites without complete our work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud provide the best security options to really help to secure our data. I also like this way that it can easy to manage the single platform through using this perfect implement. I can easily add a new system to single page also it can easily give users to specific access to systems. JumpCloud has been great because it has made it easier for me to sign in to all of our various systems. JumpCloud has a helpful Chrome extension that lets me quickly navigate to different cloud based application that my company uses and it can automatically prompts me to save applications to my dashboard.

THE platform to use for startups issuing endpoints to employees!

  • November 06, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
By far the easiest to set up and use platform to secure endpoints (ex. Windows, Mac computers) issued to employees and enforce policies (ex. screen lock after X time, BitLocker enabled, etc.). I was worried that I'd have to go deep into some Microsoft AD rabbit hole, and it turns out that JumpCloud is the much easier solution AND lets me also manage MacOS devices in the future - it's a big load off my mind.
What do you dislike about the product?
Needs MFA options for endpoint login beyond TOTP but their CEO says they're working on it!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Company ownership / management of endpoint devices is the primary reason I've started using JumpCloud.
