Best for Planning and Customized Finance Reporting

  • December 10, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fast processing and suited for collaboration. Easily customizable to a company's finance processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit expensive due to its per-GB/ workspace charging, but you are paying for a quality product that processes quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've solved a lot of finance processes involving product costing, transfer pricing and coming up with a rolling forecast. I was able to customize Anaplan to suit the exact business case.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider your long term plans because Anaplan can help with a road map of digitization of many processes.

A very flexible and powerful tool

  • December 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that Anaplan can be tailored to almost any type of business problem is fantastic. This makes it a great tool for almost any use case. The tool is also very powerful and I have built calculations that would have taken hours to run in legacy systems which are more or less 'instantly' (make a change, takes about 1 second to flow through) processed. I'm talking HUGE corporate processes and things like that.
What do you dislike about the product?
Customized reporting at a very low level with lots of members and dimensions can lead to size considerations. Reporting needs should be thought out prior to starting reporting sprints. Reporting that assists in the planning process is always worthwhile.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems I have solved with Anaplan run the gamete of corporate use cases, from Biopharma to Oil and Gas. It really can do anything. The biggest benefit in my humble opinion is the time savings realized by using Anaplan. Employees can focus on other more important tasks versus constantly trying to compile data for forecasts as Anaplan removes a lot of this legwork.

Anaplan: Standardization and Optimization

  • December 07, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to standardize business units that were unorganized in the past
Scalability
Integrations
What do you dislike about the product?
Processing times can often take a while, depending on the amount of data that was put into the tool. It's essential that customers understand that this is a calculation engine and not a reporting tool or data storage tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Manually intensive work for backfilling actuals as well as operational tasks that were previously managed in Excel. Users previously worked ~900 hours over the span of the year to get data in Excel, but Anaplan has helped them SIGNIFICANTLY decrease that time.

Anaplan is a powerful Excel replacement with endless possible uses.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the ease of building in Anaplan compared to the Excel documents I used to work with. The syntax is straightforward, and the drill-down feature makes it very easy to troubleshoot any issues while building out a User Story. Anaplan takes out all the validation issues that come along with end-users "fat fingering" a key and erasing data. Also, the history feature where you can view any change to a specific cell has been incredibly useful. When troubleshooting issues with end-users since I can see the exact action they ran and what order they performed the steps.
What do you dislike about the product?
My major issue with Anaplan is the concurrency issues when running processes or editing cells. The first complaint I hear from any client is that there is a blue box on their screen preventing them from entering data. I have minimized the time the actions run by following the best practices, but when there are multiple users in the system, it will inevitably happen. I know that I could remove actions from the end-users, but the clients ask for a way to input then submit. So therefore, I have to have a submission action.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem I run across with all clients is the need to move from Excel because the file is too large and will not load/perform properly. Anaplan is the perfect tool for these cases because it can replicate excel almost precisely, giving the clients comfort, while also being a much more powerful tool that can handle large amounts of data without performance issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Anaplan is a sleek and powerful tool that can help you escape the large, slow, clunky Excel files you're dealing with today.

Anaplan - Why should we use this new age Planning Tool ?

  • November 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am a certified Anaplanner and have obtained two certifications on same; What I like about Anaplan is the way all the modules are presented in it and how we can easily create projects and workflows from a planning perspective; we used Anaplan for a Client Project, and it was integrated with the CLient Sales system as a planning and forecasting tool
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan still has the potential to improve its UI; become more easily integrable with other software; reduce costs for the commercial version to gain market acceptance, and finally can be easier to understand or comprehend to make it more understandable to a layman working in Sales roles; Consulting and related occupations
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Benefits: We were solving problems related to Sales Forecasting for an MNC which was using Analplan for sale planning and forecasting - Being a certified Anaplanner, I built workflows in Anaplan and leveraged various tables and lists to implement my workflow on the Dashboards

Cloud-based platform - able to link multiple models together
Flexible to business needs
Enables the end-user to make changes to the platform

The native versions used in Anaplan are not a great solution when running numerous scenarios. Instead, you have to use a list alternative, which you lose some of the great functionality of using native versions.
Expensive licensing costs

Workforce planning
Financial Planning
Asset Management

You can be a model builder.

  • November 25, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The upsides of Anaplan is the accessibility, all you need is an account, browser and internet connection and your ready to plan.
Another advantage is the ease of implementation, especially with it's ALM features. Deploying updates is a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't say that I dislike this, probably room for improvement is integration and system limitation. Every platform has its limitations anyway, but these are some of the things we can look for when looking for ideas for improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We encountered problems trying to build a model with workflow, at first it was hard but eventually we pulled it off. I think the agile methodology benefited our project. We can quickly test and make quick adjustments according to the user requirements.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want a cloud based platform that is cloud based and easy to implement then this is the one for you.

Anaplan has enabled many organisations I've worked with to optimise several business processes.

  • November 24, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is flexible, powerful and user-friendly. Model-building techniques can be acquired by the business in order to solve their pain points.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan lacks some advanced statistical tools and formulas that would enable more complex modeling of decision-making simulations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Anaplan, we've solved complex, time-consuming processes such as multi-dimensional forecasting of investment values and cashflows.

Platform with strong capabilities on which i have worked a lot the last few years

  • November 23, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility of Anaplan in a wide range of use-cases. I have seen that it can support difficult use-cases without much trouble.
It has huge workflow and process time advantages and challenges business users to be critical about how they run their processes
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the speed of development on the platform could be higher. Working with it for 5 years the changes are becoming ever more incremental which I think hurts their future ability to compete in the marketplace if they continue like this for 5 to 10 years.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Budget, planning, forecasting
Helping to reduce or streamline planning efforts and making a more iterative planning experience possible. Meaning multiple scenarios running simultaneously or sequential.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
think about the business case as faster & better planning has great benefits. It is important to make this tangible before implementing.
