Fast Real-Time Reporting and Scalable Multidimensional Modeling in Anaplan

    Reviewed on Jun 07, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Anaplan is the Polaris engine. Its sparse data approach gives us more flexibility with dimensionality without constantly running into space constraints. Data Orchestrator has also reduced our reliance on third-party integration tools by acting as a built-in hub for push/pull data flows. Workflow has made approvals and task handoffs much smoother across teams, and the recent NUX updates have made dashboards noticeably more intuitive to use. I also see a lot of potential in the new Co-Modeler to speed up model building and project deployment through AI-assisted configuration.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downsides are that the UX features aren’t very flexible compared to other reporting tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan is solving problems across supply chain and financial planning. It is helpful for planning and scenario-based use cases. Previously, users used to maintain different Excel files and versions for their zone and product, and consolidation, reconciliation, and reporting were challenging tasks. Anaplan provides a single platform where they can plan and report, and the reconciliation can be calculated by the platform itself according to the design built for that application. It has various connection with third party platform which make it easier to load data and report them and use them for planning

Scenario planning has become multidimensional while pricing and support still need improvement

    Reviewed on Jun 03, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Anaplan is used for many typical use cases, starting from finance, supply chain, territory and quota planning, sales and operations planning, marketing management, call center planning, to incentive compensation, and many others. I do utilize Anaplan's scenario planning feature.

    What is most valuable?

The multidimensionality helps significantly with scenario planning, allowing me to run various scenarios and check the outcomes, which suits my needs well. Anaplan performs exceptionally in scenario planning.

The user interface in simplifying data modeling is simple and user-friendly; it makes it easy for end users, and I often call it Excel on steroids because it is as easy to handle and use as Excel.

The strong points of Anaplan include the dashboarding capabilities, integration perspective, and various domain outcomes with multidimensionality, so there are various positive points, more than negatives.

    What needs improvement?

When addressing what could be improved about Anaplan, I acknowledge that drawbacks can be the pricing, and at this point, the scalability is getting questioned due to several other tools emerging that are more scalable in nature, along with challenges in dealing with sparse data sets that increase the size of Anaplan considerably, which competitors are working on and challenging Anaplan's market position.

I believe the licensing cost for Anaplan is on the higher side, as there are cheaper options coming into the market, so I think it is somewhat overpriced.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Anaplan for more than eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There were some integration issues earlier, but now, with product development and good integration capabilities, Anaplan is performing very well with new features. Previously, the product faced many integration challenges and was not supported by many integration suites, but that situation has significantly improved.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Anaplan as a company provides implementation services for customers. I am currently working on Anaplan for different companies, specifically in the internal finance team of Qualitest Global, where I support the internal Anaplan models.

How are customer service and support?

In terms of technical support, I would rate Anaplan a two out of ten, as they are poor. They are not very responsive, and they often try to sell packages or new products every time I seek technical support, which is not satisfactory.

    How was the initial setup?

It does not take much time to deploy a solution according to the use case and the implementation being performed. The duration depends on various factors, such as whether I am working on a project that outputs only two reports, which will not take much time, or a bigger project with more than two hundred reports, which obviously takes more time, regardless of the finance side of it.

    What about the implementation team?

The number of people usually involved in implementation, such as configuration and deployment, depends on the size of the project. It depends on the size of the use case being implemented, and it is not fixed that a certain use case will require a specific number of resources.

    What was our ROI?

For benefits utilization and measurement, I do not have any specific metrics for using Anaplan's real-time insights for decision-making.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

When talking about cheaper options, I refer to Pigment and Board, which come at a slightly cheaper cost; it depends on what is being selected, and Onine is also somewhat on the cheaper side or perhaps equivalent.

What other advice do I have?

Anaplan does not have on-premises deployment; it is all on cloud.

I have not found clarity in the basis of questions regarding what the best features in Anaplan are or why customers choose this solution over others on the market.

I still use Anaplan, though I have seen many peers moving out of Anaplan due to pricing scenarios.

I have not utilized predictive analytics in Anaplan.

I would rate this review a seven overall.

Easy to Implement and Build, with Robust Reporting and Strong Model Connectivity

    Reviewed on May 28, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of implementation and build are both strong points. I like how you don't need any coding experience - just learn basic principles and start build. I also appreciate the robust reporting tools - visualizations, slides and customization. And of course one of the selling points of Anaplan - real time page refresh and model connections. It really makes collaboration easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of out of the box integration tools synchronizing directly with finance systems - beside Cloudworks, all solutions require data team support.
Option to use variance on published pages is available only on management reporting pages, it would be great to have this also on interactive pages.
In classic engine it would be great to have calculation on demand - it would speed up performance and improve readability of some pages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It’s one tool that all finance users can use, with real-time updates.
Users are really praising the clean and neat data visualizations and easiness of import-export of data. With Anaplan onboard planning process become more collaborative and straightforward. It also encourage knowledge sharing and continuous thinking about processes and improvements.

Real-Time, Flexible Modeling That Speeds Up Decision-Making

    Reviewed on Apr 29, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Anaplan is how powerful it is at connecting data across the business in real time. Once a model is built the right way, you can actually trust what you’re looking at and make decisions quickly instead of chasing numbers in spreadsheets. I also really value the flexibility—whether it’s modeling financials, forecasts, or operational scenarios, you can adapt the platform to fit the problem instead of forcing the problem to fit a tool. Finally, there’s a strong sense of ownership as a builder; when something clicks and stakeholders immediately see the value, it’s very satisfying.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Anaplan is that some things still feel harder than they should be, especially when trying to understand or navigate someone else’s model. Tracing references, following dependencies, and answering “what will this impact?” can be time‑consuming and fairly manual. There’s also a learning curve for new users—both builders and end users—which means a lot depends on how well the model was originally designed and documented. When models aren’t built cleanly, small changes can take longer than expected to validate and explain.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan is solving the problem of disconnected planning and decision‑making. Instead of working in silos or relying on static spreadsheets, it provides a single place where financial, operational, and strategic plans stay connected and update in real time. That benefits me because I spend far less time reconciling numbers and more time actually analyzing scenarios and answering “what if” questions. It also makes conversations with stakeholders more productive—everyone is looking at the same data, so decisions are faster and more confident.

Clear YTD/MTD Quota Attainment That Makes Commissions Easy to Understand

    Reviewed on Apr 24, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The actual attainment against the quota is clearly distinguished with YTD and MTD numbers. That clearly shows the commission that I will draw.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not find any challenges or disliking features in Anaplan
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan clearly analyzes my performance in terms of targets and achievements. That give me a clear idea of where am I in terms of numbers and how much I need to achieve.

    Anaplan’s Real-Time Calculations Are a Game-Changer

What do you like best about the product?
Intuitive dashboards for business users. Seamless APIs and CloudWorks pipelines. Fast recalcs on large models. High ROI for enterprise planning. Strong docs and community help. Smart forecasting with PlanIQ
What do you dislike about the product?
Too many clicks for complex tasks. Error handling still feels manual. Expensive for small use cases. Steep ramp‑up for newcomers. AI features not deeply embedded
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before Anaplan, we struggled with fragmented Excel models, most times disorganized, manual consolidations, slow recalculations and limited visibility across planning cycles. Scenario planning took weeks, errors were frequent and decisions were often delayed.
After implementing Anaplan, we moved to a single, connected planning platform with real‑time calculations, automated integrations, and role‑based dashboards. Business users can now model scenarios instantly without or very less IT involvement.
This has reduced planning cycle time by ~30–40%, cut data errors by ~70% . Decisions that once took weeks now take hours, significantly improving speed, confidence and overall planning effectiveness.

What do you like best about the product?
The part I like about Anaplan the most is CONNECTED PLANNING at its best. Due to its hyper engine, everything is connected such that one change is easily transmitted to the whole model.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I don't like is that it is too expensive for the mid market, but that is partially understandable since it is an enterprise software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
