Redgate tools are a must have for anyone with a big SQL server instance
What do you like best about the product?
Redgate's tools just work and SQL Monitor is no different. I have used a lot of tools but the redgate tools zero in on what you need to know and cut out the noise. It is very easy to diagnose your problems and get alerts before problems hit you out of the box.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much. Maybe pricing? The redgate stuff can tend to get expensive if you have a lot of instances. For example, we had one MASSIVE server that absolutely required a license. We also had 40 instances that needed very light monitoring - it was just too expensive to go with SQL Monitor for all those little instances.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In a 24 hour organization - up time is a must. It gave us a fighting chance against all of those problems that just "come up". Poorly performing execution plans, drive size, paging issues, memory, hug threads, bad actor users... it does it all.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at their entire suite of tools. Even the sql cloning stuff they have is a life send if you have a development shop that needs a lot of instances or data refreshes. They can even manipulate data and scramble data for test environments. Makes it really easy.

What do you like best about the product?
If you are not a full time Database Administrator but would like to be proactive in monitoring your SQL servers this is brilliant.
What do you dislike about the product?
It only support Microsoft SQL servers which is not yet the only available solution out there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps us being a proactive support team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep improving, maybe adding support for other non-Microsoft products is worth it as well? .
Great Tool for SQL Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is a very comprehensive monitoring tool. It shows an SQL admin all that is needed to successfully monitor the health and performance of an installed SQL Server
What do you dislike about the product?
I found that there is a significant learning curve to overcome to fully utilize the benefits of SQL Monitor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to using SQL Monitor, my company experienced numerous issues with our SQL server. File locks, space allocation, CPU usage were just a few of the issues discovered and resolved with the use of SQL Monitor.
