Efficient monitoring to professionally oversee database operations.
What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most about Redgate Monitor is the good structuring, menu navigation, and functionality of the tool. The updates of the tool are very, very easy and quickly clicked through and done. The system does exactly what it is designed for, without unnecessary additional information or features.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that the suspension of alerts during maintenance in RedGate Monitor is a bit hidden. Considering that it is actually a main feature during maintenance that one needs to use regularly, the positioning within the tool is not optimal. But with the current implementation, one can manage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Redgate Monitor to monitor changes in production databases. It helps us to get a handle on issues that don't appear in normal system logs, and it now supports more than just MSSQL, which makes monitoring additional databases easier.
Essential Tool for SQL Server Performance Management
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Red-gate Monitor is its depth of visibility combined with ease of use. It provides clear, actionable insights across SQL Server environments without requiring heavy configuration or constant tuning. The performance analysis, alerting, and historical data views make it easy to quickly identify root causes rather than just symptoms.
The UI is intuitive and clean, which makes it simple to navigate between servers, drill into specific metrics, and understand trends over time. I also appreciate how it centralises monitoring across multiple instances, giving a consolidated view of estate health while still allowing detailed investigation when needed.
Overall, it strikes a strong balance between powerful monitoring capabilities and operational simplicity.

What do you dislike about the product?
While Redgate Monitor is very capable, there are areas where it could improve. Customization of alerts can sometimes feel limited, especially when trying to fine-tune thresholds for more complex or dynamic environments. In larger estates, alert noise can become a factor without careful configuration.
Reporting and dashboard customization could also be more flexible. While the built-in views are strong, creating highly tailored executive or operational reports sometimes requires additional effort.
Additionally, pricing can be a consideration, particularly for organizations monitoring a large number of servers, as costs scale with environment size.
Overall, none of these are deal-breakers, but they are areas where further flexibility and scalability enhancements would add value.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Redgate Monitor solves the challenge of proactively managing SQL Server performance and availability across multiple instances. Instead of reacting to user-reported issues, we’re able to identify bottlenecks, blocking, long-running queries, and resource pressure before they significantly impact the business.
It centralizes monitoring into a single pane of glass, eliminating the need to manually check individual servers or rely on fragmented tooling. The historical performance data is especially valuable for troubleshooting intermittent issues and supporting capacity planning decisions.
As a result, we’ve reduced mean time to resolution (MTTR), improved uptime, and gained better visibility into trends that help with long-term infrastructure planning. It allows us to move from reactive firefighting to proactive performance management, which ultimately improves reliability and user confidence in our systems.

Effortless SQL Monitoring with Redgate Monitor
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Redgate Monitor is simple and easy to use, which is really important for effective monitoring. It provides the insights we need about our database's health and functionality. I find the initial setup very easy, painless, and fast, which was a great experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing to dislike
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Redgate Monitor gives us visibility into our database health and functionality, and it's simple and easy, providing the insights we need.
All the Info on One Dashboard—Spot Issues Before They Hit
What do you like best about the product?
All the info, just there on the dashboard. We can spot issues as they occur and before the symptoms manifest in an issue
What do you dislike about the product?
We have to pay for it. (I guess they have to make money somehow though) :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The simplicity of monitoring our estate of SQL servers. It is constantly in use and so easy to implement.
Fast, Clear Environment Overview That Helps Spot Issues Quickly
What do you like best about the product?
For us, it's that we get a fast overview of the current state of the environment. And that it can help on finding problems/issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hmm, don't think that we have anything that we dislike
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Performance and bad queries.
Quick Setup, Immediate Insights, But Watch for false Alarms
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Redgate Monitor takes just ten minutes to install. It's also great that I can understand what to use in thirty seconds, which makes it really easy to get started. I appreciate being able to see the problem query within thirty seconds as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Yeah. When you look at the service that's working well, it still shows you the biggest query even though that query might be running in a hundred milliseconds. And so you can get a false assumption of a problem. When in fact everything's happy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Redgate Monitor for monitoring performance and identifying problem queries to anticipate future issues. It allows me to quickly see queries that spike from the server, solving potential performance problems efficiently.
At-a-Glance SQL Estate Visibility and Fast Bottleneck Insights
What do you like best about the product?
View of what is going on with our SQL Estate at a glance.
Being able to easily dig in and see what is causing performance bottlenecks.
Being able to easily dig in and see what is causing performance bottlenecks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Having to pay for all servers in a cluster can end up costing quite a lot, considering only a single server is ever the active server. The benefit of monitoring the secondaries is minimal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring of our SQL Estate as a whole in a single tool.
Best-in-Class Help for SQL Server DBA Troubleshooting
What do you like best about the product?
For a very small shop this is the best product to help the DBA troubleshoot issues. We work with a third party vendor and have been able to use the Redgate product to find issues that we reported back to the vendor. We even did it so often that the vendor changed their product to start using Redgate.
What do you dislike about the product?
We do not use Oracle, Postgres, or other database products, just Microsoft SQL Server which is why we bought the original SQL Monitor.
All the other added database products are just extra weight and the continued notices about other products is annoying.
All the other added database products are just extra weight and the continued notices about other products is annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used Redgate Monitor to track high CPU usage, long running queries, failed SQL Agent jobs. With each alert we have the information to go directly to the source of the issue and quickly resolve it. Many times we have been able to fix problem code before the users are even aware that there was a problem. For small shops with limited staff this was a HUGE benefit. It was also beneficial to our small developer staff when we can point them directly to the code that needs to be changed. The hours saved not having to track down problems and being forewarned about potential problems really justifies the cost which we have been able to prove to management.
Solid monitor tool with plenty of options
What do you like best about the product?
First the licensing model is excellent. It is more affordable than many of the competitors. We have begun to test the AI features which are showing some promise in helping evaluate queries and troubleshoot issues. The tools to identify problematic queries has helped us track down queries that have been impacting production activities. Using alerts for some administrative activities has allowed us to keep track of bloat related to excessive use of linkedservers. I like the dashboard for quickly finding problems and addressing them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Updates do not allow for using gMSA accounts to start the needed services. I would like if it could allow that from the GUI update tool. In the top queries tool it would be super helpful to be able to add login name and source host to the display. It takes time to correlate the query in the sql server to find further details on the query. Adding granular permissions for users has been a little clunky for us. But in general not too big a problem as we don't do it often.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reliability is the main focus. Additionally we use the top query to troubleshoot and improve performance of tools like Excel that people use to access the databases. Correlating issues that occur, slow downs in IO or other processing. It helps to have the graphs to share with other teams to track down the root cause.
