If you call too early you end up with offshore support, which is not ideal.

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Veeam is the reliability and the recovery speed it provides. When I use it, I am sure I can recover my data (with regular tests of the backups and following Veeam 3-2-1 rule). The recovery speed is amaizing - seconds! Try "instant VM recovery" if you don't believe.
Veeam supports tape archiving and has a very friendly management interface. In the rare cases when I needed additional help with the software, Veeam support team was outstanding, helpful, and engaged.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Veeam is a real Business Continuity technology. It protects against hardware failure, VM failure, ransomeware (by securying the backup data and with a possibility for scanning before a restore), helps with auditing by preserving you data for longer periods, etc.

The best backup application I ever used
What do you like best about the product?
The software packed with features, and able to back up almost anything to everything. They started about ten years ago as a product to back-up VMWare virtual machines, but now you can backup even physical servers and file shares. You can use various options for backup repositories(destinations to store your backup files), such as file shares, Windows, and Linux machines, deduplicating appliances. Even tape recorders are supported. If your virtual machines are residing at the storage appliances such as NetApp, Veeam can use storage snapshots to back up your virtual machines even faster. Never mind the backup, the software effectively handles the replication of the virtual machines between data centers, so you could be sure that your infrastructure is protected at its best. And even if you're a virtualization enthusiast, like me, the software will suit your home lab needs at its fullest. They even provide a full-featured free version for the small non-commercial deployments.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software is pricey, it requires a Windows server to run the Veeam Backup and Replication service and console which are the key components of every deployment. The licensing model becomes more and more complicated. The developer, Veeam Software was sold by their founders to another party, so I'm worrying that the software will develop in the same pace in the future.

What do you like best about the product?
Veeam is a highly customize-able and flexible backup software. It supports the two primary virtualization platforms that we encounter (Hyper-V and VMware), and has many, many options for storage repositories.
We love that we can pick between cloud storage, WAN accelerated offsite storage, VM replication, iSCSI targets, or even SMB connected NAS devices.
Since this is a software based backup solution, you are not tied to a single appliance, and it is much easier to scale Veeam with the proper implementation.

What do you dislike about the product?
The wealth of configuration can cause issues with engineers not totally familiar with the setup and use of Veeam. It is important to carefully review the design and implementation of Veeam to ensure that it is completed properly.
The fact that Veeam is software only is great, but it does also mean you must provide a matching solution for backup proxies, backup server, and repositories. These can all translate to increased costs for the client, and can push out some of the smaller sized businesses who can't afford to properly implement Veeam or take full advantage of the features offered.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Standard backups, offsite storage, failover and VM replicas, cloud storage, and more are handled easily by Veeam.
The application aware backups make restoring files, settings, and whole VMs a breeze. The change block tracking option for restoration means that a large VM can be easily restored much faster than some other backup software which must restore the entire virtual hard drive.

The ultimate DR tool
What do you like best about the product?
The automation of running backups without you actively involved in monitoring the backups. The best i like is its ability to backup my VMs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The time it takes to recover a VM is somewhat too long, in a production environment you cannot afford to be down for a day recovering your VM or other backups. i had a VM that took me almost 30 hours to recover. i lost hour of production waiting for Veeam to recover the machine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
as a rule of thumb i need a backup of my critical systems, in case disaster strikes i know i have a fall back plan. i have managed to recover my my server when i was attacked by ransomware, i have managed to recover my users documents when they lost their laptop, i also managed to recover documents when a user went awol with company laptop and drives.

so far so good... the only issue is that Veeam costs were increased since this year :)

We had to decrease our recovery times. As part a drill exercise, we achieved very challenging times. We are very proud of our RTO times of our core system

What do you like best about the product?
It was extremely important to us that the platform we were using to backup and maintain critical systems was not only reliable and efficient, but also able to use multiple platforms of storage while being flexible enough to move data between storage devices. Not only does VEEAM do this well, it is extremely efficient and has allowed us to reallocate storage from a previous system that was extremely vendor specific. We have also been pleasantly surprised on how the VEEAM infrastructure works with our HP Nimble arrays for storage snapshots and replication. We have three main data centers across the country and VEEAM handles the replication between these sites flawlessly. Another aspect that has been an unexpected success is the ability to archive older restore points to various cloud infrastructures that were already existing in AWS and Azure. Job creation, duplication, and replication are all configured easily through wizards that anyone can understand, without having to create so many different aspects as in other products. Technical support has been amazing and the longest I have waited for a response (me personally) is 2 hours. But, for full disclosure, after having VEEAM in production for over a year now, I have only used support twice for configuration questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I would like to see more of is training on the software. The Availability Suite can do so may things, that it is hard to grasp the functionality over the initial introduction to the software. We were on another platform and eager to move, so the training may have been rushed on our part.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have solved many issues, including being able to easily backup and restore from Linux based operating systems without the use of any third party or additional software in our VMWare environment. We also have solved the problem of having to continuously upgrade our storage platform with vendor specific hardware. Reutilizing various storage platforms has increased efficiency, avoided over consumption, and saved dollars.

Take advantage of all of retraining and webinars they provide because a lot of the functionality that you have to pay for in other Suites is already there and included.
