"The only" choice for virtual machine backups
What do you like best about the product?
So easy to setup backups, replicas and copies. Takes no time at all to ensure you are fully covered for both backups and disaster recovery. Expansion of the solution to tape archiving or replicas remotely is a doddle and if there is any issues, you can get through to a fantastic support team in no time and they work hard to get you sorted and backing up again in no time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Taken a little time to get access to the physical server backup aspect, so we can have all backup under one roof. Its still in its infancy but seems to be going in the right direction.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This was implemented as a means to ensure that our virtual platform was covered with backups and replicas, to meet the need for continuity and recovery from any eventuality. It as done that quickly and easily.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure you plan out your backup strategy and storage requirements carefully... this product is excellent and you can recover quickly from any issue but if you have chosen cheap backup media (IE slow or manual rotation) then you could delay your team inadvertently.

Seek Training, spend time and test back ups completely. Never try to under-power or under-licence your installation.

Nothing particular. A web access console would be nice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of my vm crashed after Windows security update, it took me less than an hour to restore and bring the vm back online from the backup job.

Problem free and reliable. It is very user-friendly and easy to use software.

Before we had started leveraging the Veeam Availability Suite we were taking and utilizing an old and antiquated tape library with offsite tape rotations. If we needed to take and recover data older than a week old it would take us days to retrieve and load the tape from our offsite storage provider.
What used to take days with our old Symantec Netbackup system with the Veeam Availability suite took minutes.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Veeam is best used for a very VM heavy environment. Though it does have backup clients for physical machines it is best used for virtualized environments.

What do you like best about the product?
How simply it is to learn, it's was smooth and help was there from VMware as well. But it was not neeeded.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost can be pricy but you really get what you pay for

It works like a dream, backs up live servers and desktops to repositories then copies them to the cloud. 3 - 2 1 perfection. Excellent support all around including the account manager
What do you dislike about the product?
Recently the 9.5 update 2 was released. We updated but our cloud provider had not any time to prepare. We could not back up to the cloud until we uninstalled and reinstalled 9.5 update 1. We had to wait several weeks for the cloud connect partner to update their infrastructure. There should have been a release to the cloud connect partners in advance and a way to easily roll back updates

Backing up all our servers on and off the domain including all desktops managed from a single Console. Microsoft's essentials could not do this very well and lacked reporting

What do you like best about the product?
Veeam is very reliable and never fails. Veeam is the best VM backup on the market!
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost to use the backup to the cloud is too high. Veeam should bring this in house and make it cheaper for customers. Trying to go to 3ed party's just cost too much.
