I used to do vlookups in Excel
What do you like best about the product?
Alteryx is accessible - it has a drag & drop, low/no-code, visual workflow interface that means it's easy to automate complex processes. It is often imitated never matched. I am not a techie (before Alteryx I used to spend my days in Excel doing vlookups over and over again). With even just basic Excel skills, I was able to make use of Alteryx and today I shudder at the thought of a vlookup. Anyone can change their data game with Alteryx.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that Alteryx lacks is a robust visualisation tool. However, I believe this is because business intelligence tools are such a commodity now and Alteryx works by integrating seamlessly with them all - simultaneously if need be. We use Alteryx with Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, and QuickSight.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I kid you not, my entire life used to be in Excel. Now I can automate all of those tedious, repetitive processes. Those processes are dynamically automated and essentially complete, I spend my time driving insight rather than data wrangling.

Talk to an Alteryx Partner - Alteryx is a phenomenal tool and Partners are great at making the most of Alteryx within existing environments.
Alteryx is my Swiss Army Knife
What do you like best about the product?
It is a single resource for ETL, Data Cleaning, Modeling, Statistics, CASS, GeoSPatial, and other analytics. It is a very low code environment that speeds up production, and the workflows are easily understandable even without a lot of documentation. I can train new users with coding experience in any other platform to use it in a matter of days. It has a wide range of tools and integrates very well with Tableau for reporting and visualization.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not have good reporting, but it works well with Tableau, so that solves the problem, but it does require one more tool. (for a total of 2).
The things I would improve are adding more python based statistical tools (because they tend to be less finicky than R) and improving the result displays for the python tool.
The R suite is huge, but some R functions inherently have trouble with bigger datasets, though Alteryx mitigates this.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ETL, data cleaning, predictive modeling, geo-spatial modeling, and analysis. Work done in Alteryx directly affects Marketing strategy and operations. It is our primary research and development tool for data science.
Increase Your Power To Analyze And Save Several Hours Of Repetitive Tasks
What do you like best about the product?
I'm a massive fan of Alteryx because it has expanded my capabilities as an analyst and allowed me to save countless hours on tedious, manual tasks with repeatable workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing at the moment. Some things could be a little simpler, like creating PDF reports or using machine learning tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alteryx has helped stabilize our processes, and we no longer encounter human errors. We've reduced the [tax data files] process by 50%, from five thousand hours a year to 2500 hours.

What do you like best about the product?
Alteryx is an incredibly approachable platform, made as easy to use as possible. There are many sections of tools that are accessible. I have found that the community is fantastic, and its become very easy to learn and progress within Alteryx.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think there is a little bit of a paywall when it comes to the server and some sections of tools; however, this does keep the initial designer costs down by splitting the product up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There has been a wide range of problems solved by using Alteryx, including (but not limited to): HR solutions, Predictive analytics, reporting of data, self-serve data, and data visualization. Benefits appear daily, and Alteryx has started leaking into personal projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get signed up for a demo or a free trial, it will very likely prove value in that short space of time.

Alteryx provides quick, low code data analytics and transformation features. It's flexibility and powerful tool set helps analysts and data professionals to adapt quickly to the ever changing business needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Connectivity to some data sources can be challenging, especially where APIs are involved, which results in more technical skills and knowledge required to achieve the necessary result.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Alteryx to support various use cases across our business, from commercial Finance, demand planning, trade marketing to ecommerce.

The fact that anybody can use it, no need to be technical!

The UI is a bit old and could need a refresh!

2) I/O: There is a wide variety of data input/output options. I have always liked it in any software.

4) Learning Curve: Since it is a low programming software based on workflows, the learning curve is minimal. I remember it just took me a week to be up and running to do most tasks.

1) Price: A 4 figure subscription? I get that it is a workflow-based software, and the Alteryx teams put in the best of their efforts to bring new things into it—still, four figures?
2) Not so smart: I have faced scenarios where Alteryx misses some fundamental features—renaming a column, reading from an Excel Binary file, etc. Once again, these things make me rethink the amount I am paying for the subscription.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There was a very specific ask to work on two massive excel files. Every software which could handle the calculation was either taking too long or simply crashing. Someone in the wider team told us about Alteryx and the wonders it does. We took a trial, and last I remember, we had multiple licenses. It is an awesome behind the scenes, data prep software.
Perfect WF Automation Tool for Non-Coders
What do you like best about the product?
Alteryx has an embedded wf feature that enables users to drag and drop automation solutions onto a canvas with very little coding experience. It's super easy to dive into and a lot more user friendly than UiPath.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much to dislike considering its ability to integrate with various applications. However, it could use better visualization features like tableau.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've used alteryx to streamline operational processes within the tax operations space. From executing a SQL query and manipulation the data set to created automated break reports.

What do you like best about the product?
I love that Alteryx has individual tools that accomplish one thing, so you can try different things and just remove the tool ifit doesn't work. It makes combining much easier than having to do it manually.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, it can be slow to open. Also, scrolling on the workflow usually goes too fast, and you go past what you are looking for. I wish there was a way to "pop out" the workflow so you can view it full screen--this would be helpful for large, complicated workflows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Alteryx to combine data from different sources, format data, perform calculations, and get the output in the format I need (spreadsheet, etc.). I mainly use Alteryx to ready data for visualization tools, like Tableau.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's easy to teach yourself. Alteryx provides great, free training, including videos to get you started. Then for other help, each tool has its own help page, and it's easy to Google for solutions when needed.
