What do you like best about the product?

The best part of Alteryx is its intuitive drag-and-drop workflow builder. It makes data preparation much simpler, connects smoothly with multiple data sources, and helps automate repetitive tasks. Overall, it enables fast, reliable analytics with minimal coding.

What do you dislike about the product?

The main drawbacks for me are the high licensing cost and the learning curve when it comes to the more advanced features. I’ve also found that complex workflows can be harder to debug, and performance may slow down when working with very large datasets.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Alteryx addresses the challenge of manual data preparation and workflow automation. It helps me save time by automating repetitive tasks, improves data accuracy, integrates multiple data sources, and supports faster, more reliable business insights.

What do you like best about the product?

The thing I like most about Alteryx is cleaning of data, there are time we get very messy data but this saves our life.

What do you dislike about the product?

Alteryx is less popular as of now according to me and one needs licence to use it which is very costly.

There are other tools available for lesser licence fee.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is used in small data sets where on needs to sord and clean the data.

I used it to clean a data we received which was really messy and it did a great job than MS excel so it was really useful in that situation.

What do you like best about the product?

find very helpful with built in AI AND on stop solutions, fast pace solution and easy installation or integration, Price may be bit dearer side to competitors.

What do you dislike about the product?

The only down side according to me would be pricing as there are more cheaper options available.

We work in government sector and analysing patients data depending on age, backgrounds and health issues with those back ground, we had to run queries each time we need something different, now its all like one click job.

as of now i feel it is bit expensive , running a workflow locally on a desktop client can severaly drag performance

I like that it’s easy to pick up without having to worry about the underlying code. The drag-and-drop functionality makes it straightforward to build a pipeline.

One thing I don’t like about it is the high licensing cost, and for a few complex use cases I still need to have some understanding of SQL and/or Python.

It helps automate data cleaning and reporting, so I dont need do many manual tasks. It save time and reduce some errors.

I like that it allows non-technical users to perform advanced data tasks without depending heavily on IT teams. The drag-and-drop approach helped me become productive quickly. The thing I appreciate most is how visual the workflow creation is. Instead of writing long scripts, I can see every step of my data process on the screen, which makes troubleshooting much easier.

There are many tools and options available, which can feel overwhelming when you’re learning the platform for the first time. When a workflow becomes very large, it can take time to understand someone else’s design. A few projects required additional documentation to make collaboration easier.

I regularly combine data from different departments. Before Alteryx, I spent a lot of time manually cleaning files and matching formats. Now the workflow handles those repetitive tasks automatically, allowing me to spend more time analyzing trends rather than preparing data. My team receives recurring reports from multiple sources every week. Alteryx helped standardize the process so reports are generated consistently. This has reduced last-minute work and improved confidence in the numbers being shared.

What do you like best about the product?

1. Code-Free (or Code-Friendly) Data Prep
The visual drag-and-drop workflow builder is really the standout feature. It lets you blend data from very different sources—an old Excel sheet, a SQL database, and a cloud application API—by connecting visual icons (tools) with arrows.

The impact is immediate: instead of writing hundreds of lines of complicated SQL or Python just to handle null values and join tables, you can simply drag in the "Filter" and "Join" tools and connect them into a clean flow.

And if you do want to code, you’re not boxed in. You can drop Python or R blocks right into the middle of the visual canvas and keep everything in one workflow.

2. Radical Time Savings & Automation
Work that normally takes hours or even days each week—like pulling regional sales reports, cleaning them up, and matching them against master data—can be fully automated. After you build the workflow once, rerunning it with fresh data is basically a single click. For recurring enterprise reports, it turns grueling manual data-wrangling into a background process you don’t have to babysit.

What do you dislike about the product?

The Cost Barrier (High Price Tag)
My single biggest complaint about Alteryx is the licensing cost. A single-user license for Alteryx Designer can cost thousands of dollars per year. For large enterprises, that may be a drop in the bucket relative to the hours saved, but for small-to-medium businesses, startups, or individual consultants, the pricing is often completely prohibitive. This also makes true democratization difficult, because companies end up rationing licenses to only a few select power users.

Performance with Massive "Big Data"
By default, Alteryx processes data in-memory on your local machine. If you’re working with tens of millions of rows or especially heavy datasets, it can bottleneck your computer’s RAM and CPU, which leads to slow run times and, in some cases, crashes. Alteryx does offer "In-Database" (In-DB) tools to push processing back to a cloud data warehouse (like Snowflake or BigQuery), but configuring and using these tools effectively takes more technical skill, which somewhat undermines the "plug-and-play" appeal.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Drastically Flips the 80/20 Data Trap: Instead of wasting 80% of my week manually cleaning data and only 20% analyzing it, Alteryx automates the grunt work. That shift lets me focus much sooner on finding insights and driving strategy.

Acts as a Universal Data Adapter: It seamlessly blends very different data sources—like cloud APIs, SQL databases, and local Excel sheets—on a single canvas, without requiring complex scripting just to make them work together.

What do you like best about the product?

I like that Alteryx makes data preparation and automation much easier. Its drag-and-drop interface saves a lot of time, reduces manual work, and lets me focus more on analyzing data instead of cleaning it.
