What i like best about Alteryx is how easy it makes complex data preparation and analysis without needing coding knowledge.The drag-and-drop workflow is very intuitive, and it saves a lot of time compared to writing scripts from scratch.I also find the wide range of built-in tools for data blending,transformation, and predective analytics really helpful-they cover most use cases in one platform
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside of Alteryx is that the licensing cos can be quite high, especially for smaller teams or individual users. It also has a bit of a learning curve when you start working with more advanced workflows or macros. In some cases, performance can slow down when handling very large datasets, particularly if workflows are not optimized.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alteryx helps solve the problem of time-consuming and manual data preparation. Before using it, i had to rely on a mix of excel, sql, and scripts to clean and combine data, which was inefficient and error-prone. With Alteryx, I can bring data from multiple sources into one workflow, clean and transform it quickly, and automate the entire process.
This has significantly reduced the time i spend on repetitive tasks and improved the accuracy of my analysis. It also allows me to focus more on insights rather than data wrangling.
Impressive Alteryx Workflows for API Data and Tableau Reporting
What do you like best about the product?
The Alteryx workflows are impressive. We hit APIs through the Download tools, then structure the data and send reports out in Tableau.
What do you dislike about the product?
I’d say there are way too many ads running, which is honestly crazy. Also, I’m not sure how to navigate the AI use cases or the Python parts. It’s challenging for me to visualize everything in my head and understand how to process it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used to spend more time preparing data than actually analyzing it. Alteryx has really helped me with that. It does have a learning curve, but it’s worth it.
Simple for Transformations and Analysis, but Feels Like an Old Tool

At CSX, Alteryx helps solve the problem of fragmented and manual data processes across operations, such as train schedules, shipment tracking, and maintenance records. Instead of pulling data from multiple systems and cleaning it manually in Excel, Alteryx automates data integration and preparation into a single workflow. This benefits me by saving significant time, reducing errors, and allowing faster analysis of delays, asset utilization, and performance trends—leading to quicker, data-driven decisions that improve operational efficiency.

What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Alteryx is during testing for the data science field. Alteryx is truly helpful for streamlining the prep process. Instead of writing lengthy ETL scripts, I usually build workflows visually, connecting different data sources, cleaning the data, and running transformations all in one place to reduce time.
Alteryx is used for data handling, mainly the workflows of the data. I use Alteryx when I need to blend large data sets from different systems, such as pulling CRM data, merging it with financial data, and then running advanced analytics or predictive models.
While trying to merge different data sources, Alteryx made it straightforward. The process was simplified because it was just dragging and dropping from different inputs and defining the join logic. Alteryx can handle any sort of data mismatch on its own. I do not have to manually code it. There are several scripts that have already been applied in places, which saves me a lot of time.
What is most valuable?
The best feature Alteryx offers is not having to go through the hassle of preparing data by integrating with different data sources through coding or checking their backend and handling that difficult data handling portion. When it is available visually through visual building, it is a lot easier and a less stressful task, so I can manage and focus more on the important stuff, such as the analysis, and not exactly the data preparation part.
The data visual truly helps me a lot and obviously saves me time because I do not have to go through the hassle of going to each and every data source and how they are being integrated or if there is any problem that has to be solved before integrating them. Alteryx handles it on its own through several scripts that are running. Visually, I just have to ensure what data sources are being provided, and the rest is handled by it. This obviously saves time and helps to collaborate. Collaboration is made easier because it ensures reusability. It is not like once I have connected a data source, the next time I or some other person has to go through the lengths of trying to integrate once again. Alteryx makes it easier. Once the workflow is complete, it helps us to save time on the grunt work.
Alteryx has altered my organization positively because, as I mentioned earlier, data cleaning is one of the most important parts of any analysis. If the data is accurate, one can be confident about how to go further with the data. If it just becomes drag and drop options, one does not have to beat around the bushes to get the data work done for a long period of time. Instead, it is done easily. Alteryx has impacted positively by reducing that time and increasing efficiency. Data-driven decisions are made much easier and overall operational costs are reduced.
Data preparation is almost one of the hardest portions and almost half the work done. I think 50% of work is reduced. Project delivery is obviously improved because a lot of decisions have to be made around how the data is prepared, and after that, the data is to be used in that sense only. If we can get data from multiple sources, the data-driven decision becomes easier and thus helps the project to deliver more than it was targeted for.
What needs improvement?
Alteryx is one of the most one-stop solutions for data ingestion and data preparation. Obviously, there can be a few improvements that I might not be aware of because I have used it for only a short time. However, there can be more custom scripts that can be built for businesses. A few steps can also be reduced in terms of what analysis has to be done because it can be integrated in some way that works customly for the business.

I have been using Alteryx for a few months now, not for a long time, but just testing it.

Alteryx's scalability is obvious because integrating data from different sources is a tough job, and Alteryx does it easily with drag and drop options. Alteryx can be scaled to different machines or scaled up with different servers and deployed in the cloud. Alteryx can handle a large volume of data, and complexity can grow using more compute power or cluster nodes. Alteryx can be scaled both horizontally and vertically.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I did not use a different solution before Alteryx, but Alteryx was suggested to me by someone to use it. I used to do things manually before using Alteryx. For a simple ETL pipeline, I used to use Tableau.
What was our ROI?
There is a return on investment with Alteryx. I have not exactly spent money on it, but I believe it is a return on investment because once the data is prepared, you can actually take decisions in a more meaningful and directional way. That is how an organization needs to work. If most of the work is done on the preparation of the data, the longer the work stretches, and the timelines are pushed beyond. There is a lot of delay that would actually happen. Alteryx would actually save time and a lot of money and effort for the team and increase efficiency.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
There are several options in the market, but Alteryx is the most widely used one. I actually got on with the first option that I got to know.
What other advice do I have?
Alteryx is one of the best one-stop solutions if you have several data sources and you do not want to go through the hassle of checking how they are integrated and reading each and every documentation line by line and trying each and every solution through trial and error. Alteryx is one of the best solutions.
Alteryx is one of the best tools for any data professional out there. If they want to try it without having the knowledge of data engineering, they can go ahead with Alteryx. I would rate my overall experience with Alteryx as an 8 out of 10.

amazing at working with data pipelines with using little to no code. pulling data from different sources be it excel, database can be done on the same canvas in minutes while also helping with analytics
What do you dislike about the product?
cost, even though i was in a big org, i believe small orgs will find it difficult to get started with it given its budget. also, if your local machine is not strong enough, processing heavy data loads can be a bit challenging

removes the part of manual data interpretation and provides insights to start thinking in a particular direction. also helps in beautifying data. saves a lot of time in that sense

I find Alteryx my go to tool when I have a data challenge to solve. Very intuitive process with a wide range of tools available. Much faster than coding Sql or Python and much clearer.
I find the step my step process of adding a tool, confirming the results and moving on to the next tool prevents unexpected or invisible errors.
Very easy to combine data from a wide range of data sources.
I also appreciate the Alteryx community, very helpful for looking up issues. When I post a question it gets answered very quickly.

The price is expensive. I think I get a good ROI, but if you don't use it a lot there could be better options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before hand people were doing a lot of work in Excel or in SQL. The work was hard to verify, and prone to mistakes. Alteryx makes it very easy to quickly bring in and combine data from several sources.
Also since a formula is only written once, there are less issues than say with Excel.
Alteryx saves time as people were manually doing processes over and over, and in Alteryx once you build the flow it can be quickly executed.

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Alteryx is that we dont have to write any code and with simple drag and drop we can create data pipeline using ETL (Extract, Tranform and Load). It helps us to perform complex data transformations and predictive modeling without writing SQL or Python
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing as such but its Licensing Cost is very high which I heard from my IT team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has mainly helped us in creating Data lakes which will be used by the Analytics team for further analysis. It has also helped us in automating repetitive manual tasks, data cleaning and report generation as well.
