CodeBit Creates New Products, Gains Sales Skills, and Grows Revenue by 28% through AWS Partner Transformation Program

Executive Summary

CodeBit participated in the AWS Partner Transformation Program to improve the way it sells its software, cloud migration services, and solutions to nonprofit and public sector customers in Brazil. After the program, CodeBit launched an internet safety application, increased its sales and marketing capabilities, and grew its annual revenue by 28 percent.

Seeking to Add Sales Skills and Scale to Meet Growth

CodeBit Programando Soluções is a software development company based in Brazil that specializes in building custom software solutions for nonprofit organizations and public sector customers. Its customers include startups, foundations, universities, and social project initiatives. CodeBit also offers web and mobile application development, software testing, and quality assurance services. An AWS Partner, CodeBit helps customers migrate their critical applications and workloads to Amazon Web Services (AWS), using services including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), and AWS Auto Scaling.

To keep pace with ongoing growth, CodeBit knew it needed to scale its business more easily while improving its sales capabilities. “We’re good at what we do, which is developing software and helping nonprofit and public sector businesses move to AWS. However, we’re not as good at selling and marketing our products and services,” says Heitor Cunha, founder of CodeBit. “To really accelerate our growth, we had to get better at the promotional aspect of the business.”

CodeBit, which is an AWS Nonprofit Competency Partner, also wanted to expand into the education sector in Brazil by becoming an AWS Education Competency Partner. “We needed to earn the education competency to expand that side of our business,” Cunha says.

Before participating in the program, we didn’t have a formal team dedicated to positioning and promoting our products to customers. We changed the way our company is organized because of the AWS Partner Transformation Program and created a new commercial team focused on improving the way we sell our products.”

Creating a New Business Plan with the AWS Partner Transformation Program

To meet its business needs, CodeBit participated in the AWS Partner Transformation Program (AWS PTP), an assessment, training, and enablement program that helps partners build a successful and profitable AWS business. The AWS PTP, delivered by third-party collaborator Advance Consulting, includes meetings with AWS representatives, a multiday workshop, and a customized plan that helps partners achieve their specific goals. “When we learned about the AWS Partner Transformation Program, we discovered that it could help us accelerate our business growth,” says Cunha. “Through this program, we knew AWS could assist us in improving our sales and marketing abilities.”

During the AWS PTP, CodeBit stakeholders worked closely with AWS leadership teams and product managers to create a comprehensive plan featuring activities designed to help the company transform its business. As part of this plan, CodeBit gained access to a sandbox environment the company used to build and test new products. “AWS assisted us every step of the way,” Cunha says. “We didn’t even know about the PTP, but AWS showed us how it could help meet our goals through the sandbox program and other training.”

Promoting Internet Safety with a New Application

Through the AWS PTP, CodeBit developed and launched its CodeWall application, which helps families track and control screen time, block unwanted network access, and ensure safe browsing. “With CodeWall, families can control everything from mobile devices to television and video game usage in the home by promoting internet safety,” says Cunha. “Because of the AWS Partner Transformation Program, we were able to use an AWS sandbox environment to develop, test, and scale the application successfully before delivering it to our customers.”

Transforming Sales and Marketing Capabilities

CodeBit changed the way it conducts sales and marketing processes using the skills and training it received through the AWS PTP. “Before participating in the program, we didn’t have a formal team dedicated to positioning and promoting our products to customers. We changed the way our company is organized because of the AWS Partner Transformation Program and created a new commercial team focused on improving the way we sell our products,” says Cunha.

As a result of its transformation, CodeBit created separate development and infrastructure teams that focus on selling and marketing different CodeBit solutions. The development team is responsible for selling five products: CodeDev, a development platform; CodeNew, a solution that helps customers modernize applications; CodeReview, which automatically reviews application code; CodeFly, application maintenance software; and CodeCell, dedicated teams that include both customer and CodeBit developers. The infrastructure team sells four products: CloudOps Migration, a service for migrating workloads to AWS from on-premises and other cloud environments; CloudOps Review, for customers already on AWS that need help reviewing their accounts; CloudOps Data, a business intelligence product; and CloudOps Fly, AWS cloud managed services with 24/7 support.

Expanding Training and Certification

To support growth and partnership with AWS, CodeBit established a training commission comprised of leaders and other technical team members whose mission was to disseminate training and foster internal development, mainly focused on obtaining certifications. The commission promotes and monitors courses, provides financial support for registration, and distributes bonuses for achievement. This initiative led to a significant increase in the number of certified professionals at CodeBit, rising from 10 certifications in 2022 to 21 in 2023—an increase of 110 percent.

Growing by 28 Percent and Reaching New Education Customers

CodeBit has accelerated its business growth since participating in the AWS Partner Transformation Program, increasing its revenue by 28 percent in 2023. “The support, training, and certifications we received through the AWS Partner Transformation Program helped us grow our revenue, and we expect that to continue,” Cunha says.

CodeBit also became an AWS Education Competency Partner as a direct result of the AWS Partner Transformation Program. “The AWS PTP reminded us of the significance of competencies in enhancing our work and illustrating it to others. We’re one of the first AWS Partners in Brazil to have both the nonprofit and education competencies,” says Cunha. “This will help us differentiate our business and promote additional growth as we seek to expand internationally.”
