Amazon S3 Storage Lens delivers organization-wide visibility into your object storage usage and activity trends, and makes actionable recommendations to improve cost-efficiency and apply data protection best practices. S3 Storage Lens is the first cloud storage analytics solution to provide a single view of object storage usage and activity across tens to hundreds of accounts in an AWS organization, with drill-downs to generate insights at the account, bucket, or even prefix level. Drawing from more than 14 years of experience helping customers optimize storage, S3 Storage Lens analyzes organization-wide metrics to deliver contextual recommendations to find ways to reduce your storage costs and apply best practices on data protection.

Customers use Amazon S3 to store large shared data sets across tens to hundreds of accounts and buckets, multiple regions, and thousands of prefixes. Now with just a few clicks in the S3 Management Console, S3 Storage Lens delivers storage metrics across all accounts, regions, and buckets to help you understand, analyze, and optimize your storage. S3 Storage Lens provides a dashboard with 15 usage metrics to all S3 customers, at no additional cost. To receive advanced metrics and recommendations, including more than 30 usage and activity metrics, prefix aggregations, and contextual recommendations, you can upgrade to the advanced tier of S3 Storage Lens for an additional charge. With AWS Organizations support, you can use S3 Storage Lens to view your storage usage and activity metrics across all of your accounts.

In addition to the S3 Storage Lens dashboards in the S3 console, you can export metrics in CSV or Parquet format to an S3 bucket of your choice for further analysis with tools such as Amazon Athena, Amazon QuickSight, Amazon Redshift, or others. S3 Storage Lens joins S3 Storage Class Analysis and Inventory Report as S3 features that help you manage and analyze your S3 storage. Learn more about the S3 storage analytics features.
