Starting today, Amazon EC2 C6i and M6i instances are available in the Asia Pacific (Osaka) and Africa (Cape Town) regions. C6i instances are an ideal fit for compute-intensive workloads such as batch processing, distributed analytics, high performance computing (HPC). M6i instances are SAP Certified and are ideal for workloads such as web and application servers, back-end servers supporting enterprise applications, gaming servers, caching fleets, as well as for application development environments.
Based on the AWS Nitro System, C6i and M6i instances are powered by 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors (code named Ice Lake) with an all-core turbo frequency of 3.5 GHz, offering up to 15% better price performance, 33% larger instance sizes (up to 128 vCPUs), two new sizes (32xlarge and metal), 2x networking speed (up to 50 Gbps) and 2x EBS bandwidth (up to 40 Gbps) versus comparable Gen5 instances.
With this regional expansion, the C6i and M6i instances are now available in AWS Regions: US East (Ohio, N. Virginia), US West (N. California, Oregon), Asia Pacific (Hong Kong, Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Osaka), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Milan, Paris, Stockholm), South America (São Paulo), Middle East (Bahrain), Africa (Cape Town), and AWS GovCloud (US).
