Truro: Smarter sensors for safer cities
How SSE Energy Solutions, Cornwall Council and AWS are using cloud-native sensors to drive a more sustainable future.
In this short video, leaders from SSE Energy Solutions and Cornwall Council explain how smart sensors are enabling them to make cities more sustainable.
There’s nothing more important than protecting our planet for future generations. But if councils want to achieve that, they must reduce air pollution and encourage sustainable growth. It’s a tough challenge – so luckily, SSE Energy Solutions wants to lend a helping hand.
The company has partnered with Cornwall Council to launch a project in Truro and other local cities. The project involves smart sensors, which have been deployed across the cities to track crowd movement, traffic flow, and other key metrics. SSE is using the smart sensor data to generate powerful insights, which will inform new interventions to support sustainable growth in Cornwall.
To make this project possible, SSE and Cornwall Council are working with AWS. By storing data in the cloud, they can visualise information with ease and compare findings within or between cities. They can also take advantage of our intuitive solutions to accelerate innovation and make better-informed decisions. Altogether, this is helping Cornwall Council to develop a cleaner, greener environment for both residents and tourists.
