AWS and NVIDIA Genome Sequencing Analysis Solution for COVID-19

NVIDIA, a member of the AWS Partner Network, is offering researchers fighting COVID-19 a free 90-day license to access NVIDIA Parabricks genome sequencing analysis software. This software is optimized to run on NVIDIA powered GPU compute platforms including Amazon EC2 P3 and G4 instances. The NVIDIA Parabricks Genomics Analysis Toolkit combined with Amazon EC2 GPU powered instances enables researchers to quickly analyze genomes of COVID-19 patients to better understand the disease. Researchers and scientists using NVIDIA Parabricks on AWS may be eligible for AWS promotional credits through the AWS Diagnostic Development Initiative (DDI) Program.

Solution Components

Amazon EC2 GPU Powered Instances

Scientists studying COVID-19 have a choice of Amazon EC2 GPU powered instances to accelerate their research. Amazon EC2 P3 instances include up to eight NVIDIA V100 GPUs and deliver high performance compute in the cloud. Alternatively, Amazon EC2 G4 instances include the latest generation NVIDIA T4 GPUs and deliver a highly versatile cost-effective GPU instance.

NVIDIA Parabricks

NVIDIA Parabricks is a software suite for genomic analysis that delivers major improvements in throughput time for common analytical tasks in genomics. NVIDIA is currently providing a free 90-day license to Parabricks to any researcher in the effort to fight the novel coronavirus.

AWS Promotional Credits

Researchers and scientists deploying NVIDIA Parabricks on AWS may be eligible for AWS promotional credits through the AWS Diagnostic Development Initiative (DDI), a global program to support customers who are working to bring better, more accurate, diagnostics solutions to market faster and promote better collaboration across organizations that are working on similar problems. Your receipt and use of any Promotional Credits is subject to the AWS Promotional Credit Terms & Conditions.

How to Get Started

To get started, first, apply for a free NVIDIA Parabricks license by following this link. Additional information about NVIDIA Parabricks can be found here. Once you’ve secured your Parabricks license, you may be eligible to apply for AWS promotional credits by following the process outlined on the AWS Diagnostic Development Initiative (DDI) page. If you are not selected into the DDI Program, you will be required to pay for your use of AWS Services. To simplify deployment, AWS has worked closely with NVIDIA to develop an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) that includes NVIDIA Parabricks software. To use the Parabricks AMI, send an email to parabricks-support@nvidia.com with the subject line: "AWS AMI for Parabricks", along with your AWS Account ID. NVIDIA's support team will white list the AMI so you can access it from your AWS console.
