CLOUDBASIC for RDS SQL Server Read Replicas and Disaster Recovery (DR)
- By: CLOUDBASIC
Cross-Region and in-Region read replicas in Amazon RDS for SQL Server Standard, Enterprise and Web editions. Support of RDS-to-EC2 SQL Server Standard and Web Read Replicas, and EC2-to-EC2 SQL Server Standard and Web Read Replicas. In-Region read replicas give you the ability to offload RDS/EC2 SQL Server read workloads from your primary database instance to one or more read replicas to achieve high availability (HA). Cross-Region geo read replicas allow deployment of disaster recovery (DR) SQL Server instances, and cross-AWS-accounts replication to achieve ransomware protection for your RDS SQL Server and EC2 SQL Server Standard, Enterprise and Web edition databases.
In a CloudBasic RDS Multi-AZ configuration with a SQL Server read replica (which supports SQL Server Standard and Web editions, in addition to SQL Server Enterprise), transactions committed on the primary DB instance are asynchronously replicated to a secondary in-Region read replica for high availability (HA) and read scale out purposes, and asynchronously sent to a cross-Region (with optional cross-AWS-accounts) read replica for disaster recovery (DR) and ransomware defense. Read replicas contain near-real-time data from the primary DB instance, and can be used to offload the read-only workload from the primary DB instance, such as analytical or reporting type of queries that can tolerate some latency in data updates.
Amazon EC2 running Microsoft Windows Server is a fast and dependable environment for deploying applications using the Microsoft Web Platform. Amazon EC2 enables you to run compatible Windows-based solutions on AWS' high-performance, reliable, cost-effective, cloud computing platform.
