SteelConnect Gateway effortlessly connects your VPCs together and brings your branches closer to the cloud using amazing Software-Defined WAN automation.

    Overview

    Play video

Effortlessly connect your entire company directly to your VPCs, and your VPCs to each other. SteelConnect automatically extends your branches to the cloud by creating a secure fabric between your VPCs across AWS accounts, and across regions. Click "deploy" from within SteelConnect Manager and watch as a redundant, full-mesh overlay is created between your SteelConnect physical/virtual appliances on-prem and your selected VPCs. Or, go deeper and deploy a Transit VPC architecture (across VPC peers!) in the same manner to gain a centralized control point for monitoring and security.

You can add sites, change capacity, or even un-install at any time with zero residual impact to your AWS infrastructure and with nothing to remove by hand manually afterwards. (If you do not already have a SteelConnect Management Console, one will be automatically created for you during the launch process.)

    Highlights

    • Easily use the latest in compartmentalized and transit VPC designs to limit blast radius and reduce your attack surface. Link your AWS infrastructure directly to your branch sites without touching any VPN parameters or dealing with exponential complexity as you scale.
    • Full visibility of your AWS VPCs, subnets and instances in all regions via a single management console.
    • Effortlessly add transit routing or Internet breakout across VPC peers.

Doesn't work, Riverbed says no longer supported or available

    Reviewed on May 31, 2022
Review from a verified AWS customer

I activated the trial version of this product to try it out but was never able to get logged into it. There's a link on the splash page to a login that doesn't go anywhere. I contacted Riverbed support and was told "Our Steelconnect-CX product has reached End-Of-Availability last August 1, 2020. Having said this, we have already stopped customer evaluation of the product therefore your issue. Though we appreciate your interest on the product but we are no longer providing customer evaluation. Appreciate the understanding."

Don't waste your time, this product literally doesn't work and the company appears to have no intention of making it work.

Unable to use product due to poor support

    Reviewed on Nov 19, 2017
Review from a verified AWS customer

The product itself seems truly great... I was excited to test it and was fairly ready to purchase it. The installation process was smooth and the initial launch of the gateway was successful.
However, that is where the process hit a roadblock - my AWS launch/registration apparently didn't make it to Riverbed, and I could not login to their cloud-based service to maintain the newly launched gateway.
I contacted the company several times over the course of a week, all the while incurring AWS EC2 instance charges, and no one could figure out how to create a customer account for me and/or tie the gateway to that registration, nor provide me with an alternative solution.
I've since terminated and cancelled the subscription and am using a competing VPC peering product without issue.
I hope my case is isolated, and hope it prompts a review of their potentially faulty AWS marketplace integration.

    1-click solution for SD-WAN

    Reviewed on Oct 20, 2016
Review from a verified AWS customer

Using SteelConnect Gateway I can now readily access multiple VPCs spread across different AWS accounts and regions in a matter of minutes. For a small agile team this is incredibly useful. I can build my VPC using private subnets and connect our on-premise resources without needing to get our IT department involved (after the initial setup). Where was this three years ago when I needed it?!

    One click SDN

    Reviewed on Jul 22, 2016

OK, probably a few clicks, but seriously an extremely well engineered solution.

Deployment across 4 global AWS regions took less than 10 minutes and suddenly 4 disparate VPCs are one. Choose the size appliance you need based upon your bandwidth expectations and that's it.

On demand and no capital outlay or the hassle of maintaining hardware. Bring on the SDN.

    Amazing

Connected both my VPC’s together and to my physical office using full-mesh in a matter of minutes after making an IAM role. The level of automation is amazing, actually delivers on the promise. A+
