This is the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 x86_64 HVM AMI that has been built with a minimal profile, suitable for use in HVM instance types only. The image contains just enough packages to run within AWS, bring up an SSH Server and allow users to login. It provides a stable, secure, and high performance execution environment for all workloads.
Included with this VM is documentation, a security report provided by Citadel Audit.
Please note that this is the default Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 AMI that our security professionals recommend. Citadel provides ongoing security and maintenance updates on a regular basis to all instances running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 AMIs.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
