This AMI includes a pre-installed and licensed edition of the Cloud Ready Solutions EC2 Recovery Tool for Arcserve UDP.
Using this tool, it is possible to recover Arcserve UDP Recovery Points "on-demand". No need to use Virtual Standby.

To use this tool effectively, you will need to deploy this AMI & add additional disk storage of appropriate for your restore tasks . You will then need to "Copy Recovery Point" from Arcserve UDP Console, using the format of "No-Compression - VHD". Choose the disk on this VM as the destination for the copy.

Using this tool will then automate the restoration of the UDP Recovery Point into Amazon EC2. You will be prompted for credentials (Access & Secret Key) for EC2 & S3 (these can be different credentials).

You can then select:
Region
AZ
Subnet
Security Groups
Instance Type
Private IP

The restore process can take some time - proportional to the size of the restore task and the performance of the Recovery Tool VM. We recommend m5.large as a entry level size.
