You pay by the hour for AlmaLinux OS 9 with support, billed per running instance. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the instance size you choose. Options span burstable t2 and t3/t3a families for lighter workloads, plus m3, m4, m5, and m5 variants (m5a, m5d, m5n, m5ad, m5dn) for steady, memory-balanced workloads. Sizes range from nano and micro up through metal instances. Larger instance types carry more compute and memory, so hourly cost rises with capacity. You pay only for hours used.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit include, and what am I paying the vendor for?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the chosen type, billed per hour. Your payment covers the AlmaLinux OS 9 software plus vendor support. The underlying AWS instance runs the operating system, and you log in as the ec2-user after setup.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue software fees. Underlying AWS storage charges may still apply while the instance is stopped, but those are separate from this listing's software rate.
How do I pick which instance dimension to run, and can I change it later?
Choose the dimension matching the EC2 instance type you launch. Burstable t2 and t3/t3a types suit lighter workloads; m-series types suit steady, memory-balanced ones. You can stop an instance and relaunch on a different type; billing then follows the new type's rate.
