You pay by the hour for AlmaLinux OS 9 with vendor support, billed per running instance. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type, so your rate scales with the compute size you choose. Smaller shared-CPU types like t2 and t3 sit at one end. General-purpose m-family types (m3, m4, m5, and variants such as m5a, m5d, m5n, m5ad, m5dn) grow through larger sizes up to metal instances. You select the instance that fits your workload, and hourly software charges apply on top of standard AWS infrastructure costs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 virtual machine of the instance type you pick, billed per hour. The dimension name matches an AWS instance size. You are charged for every hour that instance runs the AlmaLinux OS 9 software, on top of the AWS infrastructure cost.
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. When you stop or power off the instance, the software metering pauses. You may still pay AWS for attached storage, but the AlmaLinux OS 9 software charge meters running time only.
Cost depends on which instance type you run and how many hours it runs. Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates. Running several instances bills each one separately by the hour, and those hourly charges add together on your invoice.
