So four usage dimensions exist: active and inactive counts for both Tier1 and Tier2. Your cost scales with the number of devices in each category. Active devices are those currently running and monitored. Inactive devices are counted separately. You are billed for the actual quantity in each dimension, letting you match spending to your fleet size and tier mix.

What counts as one device for billing, and what makes it active versus inactive?
A device is a panel-level power electronics unit attached to a solar panel for monitoring and control. An active device is currently connected and reporting data. An inactive device is registered but not actively transmitting. You are billed by counting units in each state separately.
How do the four dimensions combine on my invoice, and which usually drives cost?
All four dimensions bill independently and add together on one invoice. You pay for active and inactive counts in both Tier1 and Tier2. Active devices typically drive more cost since they report data continuously. Your device mix across tiers and states shapes the total.
If a device stops transmitting, does my bill change automatically?
Yes. Billing follows the count in each state, so a device moving from active to inactive shifts it to the inactive dimension. You pay the inactive rate for that unit instead. The transition follows the actual device count, not a manual upgrade step.
