Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. The instance runs Ubuntu 24.04 with the TinyProxy proxy software preinstalled. You connect over SSH, configure a login and password, and route traffic through port 8888. One instance equals one proxy server.
Software charges meter running time only, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing the hourly software fee. You use AWS controls to stop and start the server. Note that stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage charges for attached disks, which are separate from the software rate.
Yes. Your hourly rate follows the instance type you launch. Each type in the table carries its own rate. Switching to a different size or family means you pay that type's rate for the hours it runs. The change takes effect when you launch the new instance, not automatically.
