You pay by the hour for the software running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance type. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so the rate reflects that instance's compute, memory, and storage capacity. Options span the t2, t3, and t3a families for smaller general-purpose workloads, plus m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5d, m5ad, m5n, and m5dn families for larger needs, including bare-metal (.metal) sizes. Larger sizes carry higher hourly rates. You run one proxy server per instance and stop billing when you stop the instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover on this proxy server?
One hour covers the software license for a single running EC2 instance of your chosen type. You run one TinyProxy server per instance. The rate reflects that instance's compute, memory, and storage size. Larger instance types carry higher hourly software rates.
Am I charged when I stop the instance?
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. When you stop the instance, software billing stops. You can start and stop the server using the service commands. Note that stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees separate from the software license.
How do I move to a different instance size, and how does that change my cost?
You choose your instance type when launching. To change size, you launch a new instance of the desired type; billing then follows that type's hourly rate. Switching to a larger instance raises the hourly software rate; switching to a smaller one lowers it. The change is not automatic.
