Tools and Techniques

An integral part of the assessment process, Discovery and Analysis activities involve much of migration technology. Depending on the project tasks, it uses AWS native services or/and ABCloudz proprietary tools and techniques.

Each architecture component, e.g., database or app, implies its individual assessment approach and toolkit. The basic AWS technology stack leveraged in the assessment process includes, but is not limited to:

To overcome any limitations of AWS tools, the ABCloudz migration team may build and employ their own task-specific tools, whenever possible:

• ABCloudz task-specific scripts created on the spot, usually with Python on top of DMS
• ABCloudz proprietary tools, readily available or built on demand

Assessment Path

Discovery and Analysis operations cover the following assessment steps:

• Architecture — identifying the current and future architecture
• On-Time Migration vs. Modernization vs. Unification — finding the best solution to align with your financial and technical expectations
• Database Migration Analysis — analyzing DB code and schema for the best method and effort to migrate

Attention to Detail

Summarizing everything we take into assessment scope, including bundles of customer’s own scripts, reports (reporting with in-built AWS or 3rd party tools), etc., we pay special attention to analyzing the integration of customer’s data assets with 3rd party applications.

The bigger the current system is, the more changes occur on the way and have to be followed up. We provide expert forecasting where a customer’s live system may undergo changes/modifications that would require sync with its future implementations.

Effective Control with PoC

Before taking your project on a fast track, get a sense of how migration will work and evaluate future system performance with our Proof of Concept.

If it is about moving the entire system (workloads and infrastructure), we migrate and verify performance of a previously defined and agreed small module with its apps and DB (code and data) as an evidence of project viability.

When you intend to get by with moving database only, we migrate an agreed set of procedures/functions to demonstrate how original and migrated components match.
