Core Functionalities
1. Secure Device Onboarding & Identity Management OneData ensures every IoT device is given a unique identity, using AWS IoT Core’s certificate provisioning, Just-in-Time Registration / Just-in-Time Provisioning, etc., enabling authentication and accountability.
2. Communication & Edge Processing Devices communicate via standard IoT protocols (MQTT, HTTPS etc.) through IoT Core. For edge scenarios—where connectivity, latency, or bandwidth are concerns—OneData uses AWS IoT Greengrass to run compute, analytics, or filtering locally on devices or gateways.
3. Device Lifecycle Management Tasks such as configuration, firmware / OTA (over-the-air) updates, certificate rotation, device configuration changes are managed via AWS IoT Device Management. OneData implements policies and automation to handle large device fleets.
4. Monitoring, Audit, Threat Detection & Remediation Using AWS IoT Device Defender (integrated with IoT Core, Greengrass etc.), OneData provides continuous auditing of device credentials, policies, network behavior; monitors for anomalies; responds automatically (e.g. certificate revocation, quarantines, alerts).
5. Fleet Visualization & Status Monitoring With tools like AWS IoT Device Management and formerly Fleet Hub, OneData helps clients maintain dashboards or web UIs to view device health, connectivity status, metrics, alarms. Provides filtering, grouping, alarm/notification functionality to non-technical stakeholders.
6. Security & Governance Enforcing least-privilege permissions (IAM policies, IoT policies), ensuring TLS encryption for device/cloud communication, certificate management, secure update mechanisms, logging/audit trails (CloudTrail, CloudWatch). Alignment with compliance standards (HIPAA, GDPR etc.) is part of their offering.
7. Scalability & Operational Efficiency Solutions are designed to scale to many devices, automating bulk operations (e.g. rollouts), grouping devices, managing fleet indexing, optimizing edge vs cloud processing.
