You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance you run this Windows Server 2022 image on. Each dimension maps to one AWS instance type, billed per hour of use. There are no tiers or upfront commitments. Your rate depends on the instance family and size you pick. Smaller options like t3.nano or m1.small cost less per hour. Larger compute, memory, storage, or accelerated types like c7i.metal-48xl, x2iedn.metal, or p5.48xlarge cost more. You scale cost simply by choosing an instance size and running only the hours you need.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get for the hourly rate on each instance type?
The hourly rate covers the Windows Server 2022 software image running on one EC2 instance of the type you pick. The instance family and size set the CPU, memory, storage, and any accelerators. You choose one instance type per launch, and its size determines your per-hour rate.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
Software charges meter running hours only. A stopped or powered-off instance stops accruing the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage or other resource fees may still apply while the instance is stopped, but those are separate from this image's per-hour rate.
How do I lower or raise my cost after launch?
Cost tracks the instance type you run and the hours it runs. To lower cost, pick a smaller instance size or run fewer hours. To raise capacity, choose a larger family or size. There are no tiers or commitments, so changes take effect when you switch instances.
