Open source mail server for Microsoft Windows, a great replacement for exchange server. It supports the common email protocols (IMAP, SMTP and POP3) and can easily be used with many web mail systems.
It has flexible score-based spam protection and can attach to your virus scanner to scan all incoming and outgoing email.
hMailServer provides all of the important functionality you need to run your own e-mail server. As a user of hMailServer, you get continuous updates and great support from other users and developers in the forum.
hMailServer supports the open email standards POP3, SMTP and IMAP4. This makes the server compatible with most email clients available.
Any webmail system which supports IMAP and SMTP can be used with hMailServer. RoundCube and SquirrelMail are popular webmail systems which are often used with hMailServer

- Built-in Anti-Spam - hMailServer comes with a set of built-in anti spam features such as SPF, SURBL. It can also be integrated with 3rd party anti spam systems such as SpamAssassin and ASSP
- Security - hMailServer is pre-configured to have high security when it comes to relaying and authentication so that no one can use your server to send spam messages. It also supports the very popular open source virus scanner ClamAV. Configuring hMailServer to use ClamAV only takes a single click! The server also supports black list servers and other spam-stopping mechanisms such as SPF and MX lookups.
- Integrations - hMailServer comes with a COM library that can be used for integration with other software. Using the COM library, it's possible to write scripts and full applications that utilize the features in hMailServer. For example, you can integrate hMailServer into your current IT-systems so that new employees automatically get email accounts. Both hMailServer Administrator and the PHP web-based frontend uses the COM API to manage the server.

Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to one instance size, from small burstable types to large compute, memory, storage, and accelerated options. The software cost stays the same across instances; your rate rises with the capacity of the hardware you select. Pick a size that matches your mail server's expected load. You can switch instance types as your needs change, since billing follows actual running hours. AWS infrastructure charges apply separately from this usage rate.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly unit covers the hMailServer software running on one EC2 instance of the size you pick. The rate includes the preconfigured mail server with its SQL backend on Windows Server 2019. AWS charges for compute, storage, and network are billed separately by AWS.
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops the hourly software rate. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached disk may still apply while the instance is stopped, since those are billed separately by AWS.
Every instance type runs the same hMailServer build with the same features: IMAP, SMTP, POP3, anti-spam, SSL, domain management, and the SQL backend. Choosing a larger type gives more CPU, memory, or storage to handle higher mail volume. It does not add software capabilities.
