    AWS Well-Architected Framework (WARF)

     Info
An AWS Well-Architected Review (WAR) is one of the highest-leverage 1-week engagements an AWS customer can run. Done properly, it produces a prioritised list of high-risk issues, a remediation roadmap, and — for many customers — a path to AWS funding credits worth several multiples of the review effort. Done poorly, it is a checklist exercise that nobody acts on.

    Overview

An AWS Well-Architected Review (WAR) is one of the highest-leverage 1-week engagements an AWS customer can run. Done properly, it produces a prioritised list of high-risk issues, a remediation roadmap, and — for many customers — a path to AWS funding credits worth several multiples of the review effort. Done poorly, it is a checklist exercise that nobody acts on.

PurePlay Cloud delivers WARF as a principal-engineer-led engineering review, not a workshop facilitated by a junior consultant reading prompts off the AWS Well-Architected Tool. Our reviewers have built the kind of systems being reviewed, so the High-Risk Issues we identify reflect real engineering judgement — and the remediation guidance is realistic to execute.

What we cover Reviews are run against the AWS Well-Architected Framework, optionally extended with the relevant Custom Lens for your workload type:

    • Operational Excellence — change management, deployment safety, observability, incident response
    • Security — IAM design, data protection, threat detection, incident response
    • Reliability — failure isolation, recovery, change handling, scaling
    • Performance Efficiency — selection of compute, storage, database, network primitives
    • Cost Optimisation — right-sizing, commitment strategy, usage hygiene, lifecycle policies
    • Sustainability — workload, software and hardware patterns to reduce footprint Optional custom lenses include AWS Resilience Hub Lens, SaaS Lens, Serverless Lens, Machine Learning Lens, and Generative AI Lens. We will recommend the right combination for your workload during the kick-off.

    How we deliver it

    • Workshop with your engineering and operations leads, walking the workload across all six pillars
    • Independent verification: console reviews, Trusted Advisor, Compute Optimizer, Security Hub, Config conformance, GuardDuty findings
    • High-Risk Issue write-ups, dollar-quantified opportunities and remediation effort estimates
    • Executive readout, action plan and (where eligible) AWS Well-Architected funding credit submission

    Deliverables

    • Detailed Well-Architected report with finding write-ups, evidence, and remediation guidance
    • Prioritised 6–12 month remediation roadmap
    • Executive presentation suitable for steering committee or board
    • AWS funding credit application support where the workload is eligible

Getting started Get in contact with us and one of our team will reach out within one business day. We will scope the workload(s) under review, confirm any AWS funding credit eligibility, and schedule the workshop

    Highlights

    • The reviewer is an engineer who has built the kind of systems being reviewed, not a junior consultant facilitating from a prompt list. High-Risk Issues are real, and remediation guidance is executable.
    • All six pillars plus the right Custom Lens — we recommend extending with Resilience, SaaS, Serverless, ML or Generative AI lenses where they apply to your workload, so the review is fit-for-purpose.
    • Funding credit eligible — eligible Well-Architected Reviews unlock AWS funding credits, and we manage the application on your behalf as part of the engagement.
