This product has charges associated with it for security hardening. Launch a pre-configured Ubuntu 22.04 LTS EC2 instance that ships with Armorbytes hardened baseline.
This is a repackaged open source software product wherein charges are associated for hardening.
Armorbytes Ubuntu 22.04 LTS image enforces Level 1 security controls that are compatible with the Center for Internet Security® (CIS) Benchmark. Armorbyte is not affiliated with or certified by CIS; the benchmark is referenced solely as an industry standard. Additional hardening disables unused daemons, enforces strong SSH policies, and schedules automated security updates.
The baseline maps to the NIST CSF, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, and other frameworks, giving teams a proven starting point toward compliance without the usual DIY effort.
Key features:
. Implements Level 2 controls compatible with the CIS Benchmark (not a certified CIS image).
. Continuous patching via unattended-upgrades.
. SSH hardened: key-only auth & modern ciphers.
. Kernel parameters tuned to reduce attack surface.
. Cloud-init scripts to extend or roll back changes.
Why choose Armorbyte?
Armorbyte images are continuously rebuilt, vulnerability-scanned, and cryptographically signed. Every build is regression-tested so it just works the first time you launch.
Highlights

You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run. All 29 dimensions deliver the same Advanced Hardened Ubuntu 22.04 image; they differ only by compute capacity. The t2 and t3 families cover burstable general-purpose sizes from nano through 2xlarge. The m5a family provides memory-and-CPU balanced sizes up to 16xlarge, while c5a targets compute-focused workloads up to 16xlarge. The r5a family suits memory-heavy needs. Hourly cost scales with the size you select. You add standard AWS infrastructure charges separately.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover, and am I charged when the instance is stopped?
Each dimension meters one running instance-hour of the chosen EC2 size. You pay only while the instance runs. Fully stopped instances stop accruing software charges. Standard AWS storage and infrastructure fees may still apply separately for stopped instances.
What do I actually receive with each hourly rate?
You get the Advanced Hardened Ubuntu 22.04 LTS image pre-configured for compliance benchmarks including PCI DSS, HIPAA, NIST, and STIG. The only difference across dimensions is the EC2 instance size and its compute, memory, and CPU capacity.
How does my cost change if I move to a different instance size?
Switching sizes changes your hourly rate to match the new instance. There is no automatic tier upgrade; you choose the size when you launch. Larger compute, memory, or CPU capacity carries a higher hourly rate. You are billed only for the size actually running.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
