Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for OpenTofu running on Ubuntu, billed per EC2 instance type you choose. The 21 dimensions map to standard AWS instance families: general-purpose (t2, t3, m3, m4, m5), compute-optimized (c3, c4, c5), and memory-optimized (r3, r4, r5). Sizes range from t3.nano and t3.micro up to t2.2xlarge. Your hourly rate scales with the instance's compute and memory capacity. You select one instance type based on your workload, and the software charge is added to the underlying AWS infrastructure cost.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One unit covers one running EC2 instance of your chosen type, billed per hour. This includes the preinstalled OpenTofu software on Ubuntu plus maintenance support. Each instance runs as a single control node for infrastructure automation. You pay for one instance size at a time.
The software fee meters running time only. Stopped or powered-off instances do not accrue the hourly software charge. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate from the software license and billed by AWS.
Two charges apply simultaneously on the same invoice. The vendor's hourly software fee is added on top of the standard AWS cost for running that EC2 instance type. Choosing a larger instance raises both the AWS infrastructure charge and the software rate per hour.
