Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for a pre-built LAMP stack image running on an AWS EC2 instance. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, you pick the EC2 instance type that fits your workload, and each type carries its own hourly software rate. Options span general-purpose (t2, t3, m3, m4), compute-optimized (c5), memory-optimized (r5), storage-optimized (d2), and accelerated instances (g2, g3, inf1, vt1, dl1). Larger instance sizes generally cost more per hour. Charges accrue only while an instance runs, and you can stop billing by stopping the instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You get a pre-built image with the Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP stack configured and ready to run. The image installs on your chosen EC2 instance with sensible defaults and documentation. You supply the AWS account and instance; the software rate covers the packaged stack.
The hourly software rate meters running time only. When you stop the instance, the software charge stops accruing. A stopped instance may still incur AWS storage fees for its attached volumes, but those are separate from the software rate charged here.
The rate charges the packaged LAMP stack software per instance-hour. Each EC2 instance type carries its own hourly software rate. Choosing a general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, or accelerated instance changes both your AWS compute cost and the software rate you pay.
