You pay based on usage, not a fixed subscription. Pricing splits into two categories: input tokens (the text you send to the model) and output tokens (the text the model generates). Each is billed per 1 million tokens. Output tokens carry a separate rate from input tokens. Your cost scales with how much data you send and how much the model produces. There is no seat count or upfront commitment. The more tokens you process, the more you pay, so total cost depends directly on your workload volume.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as a token for billing input and output charges?
A token is a small piece of text the model reads or produces, roughly a word fragment. Input tokens cover the text you send, including prompts and any attached context. Output tokens cover the text the model generates in response. You are billed per 1 million of each.
Which charge usually drives the larger share of my bill, input or output tokens?
Both charges apply on the same invoice and are metered independently. Input tokens dominate when you send large documents or long context. Output tokens dominate when the model produces lengthy responses. The output rate differs from the input rate, so your workload pattern decides which weighs more.
Do I pay a fixed subscription or commit to a term with this model?
No. This is usage-based billing with no seat count and no upfront commitment. You pay only for the tokens you process. Charges accrue as you send input and receive output. If you stop using the model, no token charges accrue during idle periods.
