This lightweight and secure AlmaLinux 9.3 (ARM/aarch64) image is built from the official ISO image, stripped down to include only the essential packages and required AWS software to make it integrate seamlessly into the AWS infrastructure (AWS CLI, Elastic Network Adapter & NVMe drivers). This results in a minimal image that is fast to boot, reduces storage requirements, and optimizes system responsiveness. The image is updated with the latest security patches and updates, providing protection against known vulnerabilities and ensuring the stability and reliability of your server environment. Other features: key based authentication with 'ec2-user' username, cloud-init and SELinux enabled, root login disabled, automatic root disk resize based on the instance volume configuration. You pay by the hour for the AlmaLinux 9.3 ARM64 image, billed per running instance. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS ARM64 (Graviton) EC2 instance type, so your rate follows the instance size and family you launch. Options span general-purpose (m-series, t4g, a1), compute-optimized (c-series), memory-optimized (r-series, x2gd), storage-focused (i4g, im4gn, is4gen), high-performance compute (hpc7g), and graphics (g5g) families. Sizes run from nano and medium up through large multi-core and bare-metal instances. Larger instances cost more per hour. You pick the type that fits your workload.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension bills per hour for one running EC2 instance of that ARM64 (Graviton) instance type. The rate covers the software license on the AlmaLinux 9.3 image. You launch and run one instance; the meter counts each hour it runs. Underlying AWS compute and storage charges are separate.
The software rate meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue the per-hour software charge. Attached storage may still incur separate AWS fees while the instance is stopped. When you restart, hourly software metering resumes for that instance type.
The images contain the latest security updates available at the release date. The vendor configures update repositories in its images to keep the running system current at no additional cost. You can also email the vendor for support and image customization.

Usage instructions
To connect to the VM:
- Use SSH to connect
- Username provisioned inside is: 'ec2-user'
- Use the SSH key provided at the launch of the instance
- Run 'sudo su -' to get a root prompt

Check the health and functionality of the virtual machine you have just launched:
- Go to your Amazon EC2 console and ensure you are in the correct region
- Select 'Instances' from the left menu and click on the newly launched instance
- Click on the 'Status and Alarms' tab at the bottom of the page to check all parameters are green
