You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run ProcessWire on. All 21 dimensions bill the same software on different instance types, so pricing scales with the compute you choose. The T2 and T3 families cover general-purpose sizes, from nano and micro up through 2xlarge. The M3, M4, and M5 sizes offer balanced compute and memory. The C3, C4, and C5 sizes target compute-heavy work. The R3, R4, and R5 sizes provide added memory. Larger instances cost more per hour, so you match the size to your workload.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover on each instance type?
One unit is one hour of running the ProcessWire software on the EC2 instance size you pick. The rate covers the software licence and support. Underlying AWS compute, storage, and network fees are billed separately by AWS.
Am I charged the hourly rate when the instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but that is separate from the software fee.
How do I move to a bigger instance if my workload grows?
Each instance size is billed as its own hourly dimension. To scale, you launch a matching instance size and pay that size's hourly rate. Larger sizes cost more per hour. Support runs around the clock across the sizes offered.
