You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you choose to run this Joomla software. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS instance type, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, and storage of the machine you pick. Smaller instances like t2.micro or t3.nano cost less per hour, while larger memory-optimized, compute-optimized, or GPU instances (such as r5, c5, and p3 families) cost more. You are not locked into a term or fixed quantity. The software comes preconfigured with Apache, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin on Debian 12, plus vendor support.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one billing unit represent for this Joomla software?
One unit is one hour of running the chosen EC2 instance. You pick an instance type, such as t3.medium or r5.large, and the software charge accrues for each hour that instance runs. Each running instance is metered separately, so two instances bill two sets of hourly charges.
Am I still charged the software fee when the instance is stopped?
The software charge meters running hours only, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing that fee. You may still pay underlying AWS fees, such as storage for the attached disk, while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
What software comes preconfigured, and are there extra charges for those components?
The instance ships with the LAMP stack: Apache web server, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin on Debian 12, plus vendor support. These components are included in the hourly rate, so no separate charge applies for them. Your cost is driven only by the instance type and hours run.
