What this engagement delivers

Techanek analyzes your AWS spend, identifies where it is being wasted, and quantifies what each fix is worth. You receive a ranked savings plan in which every line item carries a projected monthly dollar saving, the engineering effort required, and the operational risk of implementing it.

Scope and AWS services covered

We analyze data from AWS Cost Explorer, the AWS Cost and Usage Report, AWS Budgets, AWS Compute Optimizer and AWS Trusted Advisor. Coverage includes Amazon EC2 instance families and rightsizing, Savings Plans and Reserved Instance coverage and utilization, Amazon EBS volume types and unattached volumes, Amazon S3 storage class and lifecycle policy, Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora sizing and idle instances, Amazon EKS and Amazon ECS cluster utilization and bin packing, AWS Lambda memory configuration, data transfer and NAT Gateway costs, Amazon CloudWatch log retention, and untagged or orphaned resources across AWS Organizations.

Delivery approach and timeline

Phase 1, Data collection, days 1 to 4. Read-only access to billing data and the AWS accounts in scope. We establish a spend baseline and a tagging coverage map.

Phase 2, Analysis, days 5 to 12. Waste identification across all categories above, with each opportunity sized and validated against actual utilization data rather than list-price assumptions.

Phase 3, Savings plan and readout, days 13 to 15. Presentation of the ranked savings plan, with a working session to agree sequencing and ownership.

Deliverables

You receive a current-state spend analysis with cost attribution by account, service and tag, a ranked savings register with projected monthly dollar value, effort and risk per item, a commitment strategy recommendation covering Savings Plans and Reserved Instance mix, a tagging and cost allocation policy, remediation steps in Terraform or AWS CLI form for each recommendation, and a 12-month projected spend model under the recommended plan.

A representative engagement delivered a 35 percent reduction in monthly AWS spend for a customer running production AI workloads, achieved through rightsizing, commitment restructuring and container utilization improvements, with no reduction in delivered capacity.

Prerequisites and customer responsibilities

You provide read-only IAM access to the AWS accounts in scope, access to the Cost and Usage Report or permission for us to enable it, and access to AWS Cost Explorer. Where workload context is required, we ask for up to four hours of engineering stakeholder time. No changes are made to your environment during the assessment.

What is not included

This is an assessment engagement. Implementing the savings plan is scoped separately, either as a fixed-scope remediation sprint or as part of an ongoing managed service. The assessment does not include contract or Enterprise Discount Program negotiation with AWS, nor does it cover software license optimization for third-party products.
