Unified Origin enables you to dynamically package VOD content from one source format (MP4, fragmented MP4, or HLS) to all formats: HLS (TS & CMAF), (DVB-) DASH, HbbTV, HDS, and Smooth.
Dynamic packaging is the process of keeping only a single source on disk, and delivering content in a requested output format by generating that output from the source at the moment the request is received, i.e. dynamically or just-in-time. Everything is generated on-the-fly so a dynamic workflow allows for quick changes to the configuration of your streams because it does not require changes to the source on disk.
Unified Origin supports leading audio technology, such as DTS Express, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, and HE-AAC v2, along with subtitles and captions. Adding an audio description track and subtitles or captions using TTML or WebVTT makes your content more accessible.

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the AWS EC2 instance you run. The nine options are compute-optimized instance sizes, so pricing scales with the compute power you choose. Larger instances cost more per hour because they add virtual CPUs and memory. The c5, c5a, and c5ad families differ in processor and local storage characteristics. Within each family, the large, xlarge, and 2xlarge sizes step up in capacity. You select the instance that fits your streaming workload, and billing accrues only while the instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for each hourly instance I run, like a c5.large or c5a.2xlarge?
Each option maps to one AWS EC2 compute-optimized instance running the software. The instance size sets the number of virtual CPUs and the memory you receive. Larger sizes add capacity for higher streaming demand. You run one instance per hourly charge, sized to your workload.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or idle?
The software meters by the hour only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached disks. Billing accrues only for the hours the instance is active.
How do the c5, c5a, and c5ad instance families differ for my streaming workload?
All three run the same VOD packaging software. The families differ in processor type and local storage. The c5ad family includes local solid-state storage, while c5 and c5a do not. Within each family, large, xlarge, and 2xlarge step up in virtual CPUs and memory. You choose based on compute and storage needs.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
