64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage Instructions
Accessing the Application
Once the instance is launched and the status checks have passed:
- Navigate to http://<ec2-ip-address>:5000 in your web browser to access the application dashboard.
- The application and its associated services (Nginx, MySQL, Elasticsearch) are managed via Docker Compose and are configured to start automatically upon instance boot.
Location of Sensitive Information:
- Docker System Volumes: MySQL and Elasticsearch data are stored in named volumes managed by Docker at /var/lib/docker/volumes/.
- Local Project Directories: Application-specific data is stored in the user's home directory (typically /home/ubuntu/) via bind mounts:
- Configuration: ./config.json
- Media/Recordings: ./audio_files, /var/www/html/recordings, and /tmp/recordings/
- Database Backups: ./sealed_db_back.sql
- Logs: ./logs
- Credentials: Sensitive variables are stored in the docker-compose.yml file within the project directory.
Data Encryption Configuration:
- At Rest: This application utilizes Amazon EBS Encryption for data at rest. During the EC2 instance launch process, users must ensure that the EBS volumes (Root and Data) are configured to be encrypted. This ensures that all Docker named volumes, bind mounts, and database files listed above are encrypted using AWS KMS keys.
- In Transit: Data communication between services occurs over the internal Docker bridge network.
Decryption Procedures:
The application does not use proprietary application-level encryption or third-party secrets management software.
Decryption of data on the disk is handled automatically and transparently by the Amazon EBS service when the instance is running. No manual steps or decryption keys are required from the user to access or interact with the application data.
