AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type across three families: t3, m3, m4, and m5. Larger sizes within a family carry more CPU and memory, so hourly rates rise as you move up. The t3 options suit variable workloads, while m3, m4, and m5 target steady general-purpose use. The m5.metal option runs on dedicated bare-metal hardware. You choose one instance size to match your workload, and billing accrues only for the hours you run it, with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for each hourly instance charge beyond the compute itself?
You pay for the running EC2 instance plus the vendor's packaged InfluxDB deployment and support. This includes continuous security scans, a management dashboard, and 24/7 support with a 30-minute response target. The software charge meters per hour on top of the underlying AWS instance cost.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters only the hours the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing hourly software fees. You may still pay underlying AWS storage costs for attached volumes while the instance is stopped, but those are separate from the software metering.
How do I move to a larger instance size if my workload grows?
You select one instance size that matches your workload. To scale, you switch to a different dimension, such as moving from m5.large to m5.2xlarge. Billing simply follows the running instance, so the hourly rate changes when you run the new size. There is no upfront commitment tying you to one size.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
