Right-size your AWS compute from the start. Fleet Selector matches each software workload to its optimal EC2 instance; balancing cost, performance, and carbon impact, for a single AWS region. Define what you need in plain language; receive ranked, explainable recommendations with sustainability scoring built in. Free trial includes one configuration. Subscription unlocks multiple workload configurations.
Fleet Selector: Find the Right Instance. First Time.
Choosing an EC2 instance type is deceptively complex. Pick wrong at the start and you carry that cost, financial and carbon, for the lifetime of the workload. Fleet Selector removes the guesswork.
What it does: Fleet Selector guides operations and cloud users through a structured workload definition in plain language, not AWS jargon, and returns a ranked shortlist of EC2 instance types for a single AWS region. Each recommendation is scored across three axes simultaneously: compute cost, performance suitability, and carbon intensity.
Designed for business compliance teams and 2nd to 4th line cloud operations users, Fleet Selector requires no deep AWS expertise. If you can describe what your software needs to do, Fleet Selector can match it to the right instance family, size, and architecture.
Key capabilities:
Workload definition in natural language; describe CPU, GPU, memory, and I/O requirements without needing to know instance families.
Multiple design configurations:
Separate optimal instance selection for each distinct software workload or pipeline stage within your subscription.
Single-region optimisation, compare recommendations scoped to your compliant AWS regions, with GHG protocol aligned carbon intensity and pricing data for that region. Sustainability-embedded scoring, every recommendation includes a carbon impact score, with Graviton's delivering up to 60% energy reduction versus x86 equivalents. Priority weighting; set your own balance between cost, performance, and sustainability to reflect your organisation's goals.
Explainable recommendations, ranked shortlist with rationale, not a black box; the "Consumer Reports" approach to instance selection
Pricing:
Free tier: Test the tooling end-to-end with one workload configuration.
Subscription: Standard - Manage multiple workload configurations across your organisation's software stack.
Who it's for:
Cloud operations teams, platform engineers, and FinOps practitioners who need defensible, repeatable instance selection decisions, and sustainability officers who need those decisions to carry ESG-reportable carbon data. Part of Fleet Suite Fleet Selector pairs with Fleet Command to form a complete lifecycle approach to sustainable AWS compute management.
Highlights
Instant ESG Compliance: Automated carbon footprint calculations and sustainability scoring for seamless ESG reporting
Cost Intelligence: ML-powered recommendations prioritize Graviton instances and optimal regions for maximum cost efficiency
Risk-Free Decisions: Pre-qualified choice pools ensure performance requirements while optimizing for sustainability
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before it ends, access to these entitlements will expire.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You buy Fleet Selector under a contract, choosing from four unit-based options. Base Design covers OnDemand fleet design. Fleet Selector Base [v1] adds a single workflow with OnDemand design. Fleet Selector Pro [v1] builds on this with API access, Fleet Checker, and Spot design. Fleet Selector Enterprise [v1] extends further with role-based access control, multi-seat support, and custom modules. The options work as tiers, each adding capabilities as you move up. You select the tier that matches the workflows, access, and team size you need.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one unit for billing across these options?
Each option meters in Units, which map to your Fleet Selector usage rather than to servers or hosts you deploy. The Enterprise [v1] option adds multi-seat support, so units there cover multiple team members. Base and Base [v1] options cover single-workflow design usage.
How does the OnDemand design in lower tiers differ from Spot design in Pro?
Base Design and Fleet Selector Base [v1] design fleets using OnDemand compute selection. Fleet Selector Pro [v1] adds Spot design, letting you plan fleets around Spot capacity. This affects the compute pricing model your fleet targets, not how the Marketplace software itself is metered.
Do I move to a higher tier automatically, or must I select it?
You choose your option at purchase. The four options work as tiers, each adding capabilities like API access, Fleet Checker, role-based access control, or custom modules. Moving up to gain those features is a manual selection, not an automatic upgrade triggered by usage.
