Overview
This professional service helps customers achieve specific outcomes related to the adoption of AWS Cloud by delivering discovery, landing zone build, and migration services using AWS Application Discovery Service, AWS Migration Evaluator, AWS Control Tower, AWS Organizations, AWS Application Migration Service (MGN), and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS). Every engagement begins with discovery: an automated estate inventory conducted through AWS Application Discovery Service, application dependency mapping, and a costed target design on AWS produced using AWS Migration Evaluator — wrapped in a business case that includes AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) funding preparation where the estate qualifies. The landing zone is established before any workload migrates: AWS Control Tower provisions the multi-account environment with AWS Organizations account structure, AWS IAM Identity Center for single sign-on, AWS Transit Gateway for network connectivity, AWS Security Hub, AWS CloudTrail, and AWS Config for compliance logging, and centralised log aggregation to Amazon S3 and Amazon CloudWatch Logs.
Migration execution runs in planned waves using AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) for server rehosting — including Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Base and Windows Server 2019 workloads available on AWS Marketplace as base AMIs, and Linux workloads targeting Amazon Linux 2 on Amazon EC2. Database migrations from commercial engines are delivered using AWS Database Migration Service with AWS Schema Conversion Tool to Amazon RDS or Amazon Aurora, and storage data is relocated using AWS DataSync to Amazon S3 or Amazon FSx. Each wave follows a replication, rollback rehearsal, test cutover, and production cutover sequence aligned to the customer's change management process. Consolidations from Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and Alibaba Cloud include AWS service-mapping analysis, egress cost modelling, and re-alignment of CI/CD, identity, and monitoring to AWS-native services.
Customers using this service are responsible for AWS infrastructure costs incurred in their AWS accounts — including Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, Amazon S3, AWS networking, and related services — separately from the service fee transacted through AWS Marketplace. This service is suited for organisations with 20 or more servers on VMware, on-premises data centres, or across multiple cloud platforms seeking a structured, MAP-funded path to AWS with full landing zone governance established from day one.
