You pay by the hour for KUSANAGI Security Edition, billed through your cloud provider. Pricing follows the EC2 instance type you choose to run the software. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, from small general-purpose types up to large compute-, memory-, and storage-optimized machines. The software rate rises with the size and capability of the instance, and AWS charges its own compute cost separately. You run only the instances you need and stop paying when you shut them down. There are no upfront commitments or fixed terms tied to this usage-based model.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and what does AWS charge separately?
Your hourly rate covers the KUSANAGI Security Edition software license tied to the EC2 instance type you run. AWS bills its own compute, storage, and network costs separately on the same invoice. The two charges are independent and both apply for each hour the instance runs.
Am I charged the software fee when my instance is stopped or shut down?
The software fee meters running instance time. When you stop or shut down the instance, the hourly software charge stops. AWS may still bill underlying storage for a stopped instance, but the KUSANAGI Security Edition license charges only while the instance runs.
Does choosing a bigger instance type change my software cost?
Yes. Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. The software rate rises with the size and capability of the instance you select, spanning general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, and storage-optimized machines. You pick the instance type that matches your workload and pay that dimension's hourly rate.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
