Spending Insights Index, developed for non-FCRA use cases, leverages aggregated transaction data to provide a comprehensive view of spending activity across multiple consumer categories such as Travel (plus hotel, airline, cruise), Dining (plus fast casual, takeout/food delivery), Home Improvement, Insurance, and Total/Overall Spending. The Index ranks each category with scores (1 - 100) for three key measures:
Level of spend: average transaction amount over the past 12 months Recent spend activity: average transaction amount over the past 3 months Spend frequency: average number of transactions per month over the past 12 months
Example of Spending Insights Index in action:
A financial services company wants to identify potential customers who are likely to respond to a credit card offer with travel perks. Use the Travel category to find individuals with a high-level of spend plus spend frequency on travel-related purchases. Narrow the audience by focusing on individuals actively planning or making travel purchases by looking at the recent spend activity.
This solution is designed to increase marketing effectiveness by better identifying consumer household spending, ultimately boosting acquisition, informing cross-sell strategies, and enhancing retention.
Anonymized transaction data is aggregated at the micro-neighborhood / ZIP+4 level to ensure compliance and privacy. It is available as a full data file, or appended to an input file.
