You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS instance size, so pricing scales with the compute resources you choose. The t2 and t3 families offer general-purpose sizes from nano through 2xlarge. The m3, m4, and m5 large instances add balanced compute and memory. The c3, c4, and c5 large instances target compute-heavy workloads. The r3, r4, and r5 large instances suit memory-intensive workloads. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, with no term commitment.

What resources do I get for each hourly instance dimension?
Each dimension maps to one running AWS EC2 instance of that size. For example, a t3.medium gives you the compute and memory of that instance type. The t2 and t3 families are general-purpose, m-series is balanced, c-series favors compute, and r-series favors memory. You choose one size and pay per hour it runs.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
You pay only for hours the instance actually runs. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the software meter counts running time only.
Do I commit upfront or pay only for what I use?
This is usage-based billing with no term commitment. You pay by the hour for the instance size you run and can stop anytime. There is no contract or lock-in, so cost tracks the hours your chosen instance stays active.
