Overview

Our Natural Disaster Monitoring Service utilizes cutting-edge remote sensing technologies to provide comprehensive and timely insights for disaster management and response by leveraging unsupervised clustering analysis, scalar indices, color composite images, and advanced data processing techniques.

Monitor a wide range of natural disasters, including wildfires, floods, and earthquakes, by analyzing satellite imagery from sources such as Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, ASTER, and Landsat-8. Our platform facilitates the rapid assessment of disaster impacts by detecting surface objects with similar geophysical properties, identifying changes over time through color composites, and evaluating terrain characteristics using scalar indices like the Radar Vegetation Index and Normalized Burn Ratio.

OPT/NET B.V. offers customizable analysis options, allowing you to tailor your monitoring approach based on specific disaster types, geographical areas, and analytical requirements. Whether assessing vegetation health with SWIR composites, identifying urban areas with Built-Up Land Features Extraction Index, Normalised Difference Built-Up Index, Urban Index, or monitoring soil moisture levels with Soil Moisture Index, our platform provides actionable insights for informed decision-making during emergency response operations.

Additionally, we support post-disaster assessment and recovery efforts by providing historical data analysis and trend visualization, time-series data and DEM stacks. We track environmental changes, assess terrain dynamics, and identify areas prone to future disasters, enabling proactive mitigation strategies and community resilience-building initiatives.

Due to the time sensitivity of natural disaster monitoring, open data sets may not be sufficient since open remote sensing datasets may have up to 2 weeks delay from the moment of capture to data availability. In those cases, commercial and customer-provided datasets are indispensable for timely natural disaster monitoring and response. The service can integrate customer provided and commercial remote sensing data and data provided under the International Charter ‘Space and Major Disasters’. This approach ensures that qualified and authorized users and organizations can swiftly access crucial information without being hindered by delays. With rapid access to remote sensing data, this service facilitates effective disaster management by enabling prompt decision-making and response efforts based on accurate and up-to-date information.

Our Natural Disaster Monitoring Service provides a comprehensive solution for proactive disaster management, emergency response coordination, and post-disaster recovery efforts. By harnessing the power of remote sensing and advanced analytics, we empower organizations to protect lives, mitigate damage, and build resilient communities in the face of natural disasters. Finally, the processed data is delivered in a user-friendly format: multiband RGB orthomosaics, digital elevation models, and raster index files in full resolution such as GeoTIFFs suitable for further analysis or visualization, we can also provide reports in PDF format. Another, more interactive, option includes combining this service with an interactive online SaaS platform for Visualization of EOD, where we provide an interactive visualization solution equipped with all the necessary tools that allow you to easily find, explore, and interact with the public and your private analyzed data. Our intuitive AI powered and natural human language based user interface enables you to easily find your data and reports, visualize complex trends, discover hidden patterns, and identify hard to spot anomalies, empowering you to make informed decisions quickly.

This Emergency Monitoring Solution was a winner of the Copernicus Emergency Management Challenge of European Commission at the Copernicus Masters competition in 2018. The access to the online platform may be ordered as an option (billed monthly). A 10% discount is applicable for annual subscriptions.
