Overview
Qalius Web Application Support for Healthcare is a managed service for secure cloud applications on AWS, purpose-built for healthcare organizations in Ontario and across Canada that process personal health information (PHI) subject to the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). The service is delivered by Qalius, an Ontario-based AWS Advanced Consulting Partner specializing in supporting Canadian hospitals and healthcare organizations.
During onboarding, Qalius will ensure your application is installed in AWS according to industry best practices, such the AWS Well-Architected Framework Healthcare Industry Lens, the AWS Landing Zone Accelerator for Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) – Cloud Medium, and AWS guidance for HIPAA.
Qalius Support is organized into three integrated service categories: Help Desk Services, Compliance Services, and IT Operations Services. Together, these services maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of healthcare applications and the sensitive data they process.
Help Desk Services
The Help Desk Services are the focal point for communication. Qalius provides comprehensive support for managing the AWS services, and collaboration with your application team for application incidents. Qalius is available for architectural guidance, and support for processes such as Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Threat Risk Assessments (TRAs).
Compliance Services
The Compliance Services provide ongoing management of your security posture in AWS, so you remain compliant with your PHIPA obligations. Qalius uses AWS services to provide vulnerability assessment, threat intelligence, log inspection and other data. Qalius uses AWS Security Hub CSPM to aggregate the data, and AWS-managed rulesets that operationalize hundreds of compliance checks from sources such as CIS AWS Foundations Benchmarks, and AWS Foundational Security Best Practices.
IT Operations Services
The IT Operations Services provide comprehensive ongoing management of your AWS footprint, including management of patches, backups, logs, certificates, and access. Qalius oversees the IT Operations and provides incident management and resolution. The IT Operations services are rounded-out with maintenance of next-generation firewalls, infrastructure rightsizing, and cost management. Infrastructure is managed as code in the Terraform framework with joint change management for an auditable and repeatable configuration.
